Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Paul your a funny guy. Vpay is visa pre paids you buy from 7/11 petrol stations and using amex get three points per dollar or 1.5spg points per dollar. Unfortunately i went a bit hammer time on these cards buy 10x $500 vpay cards at once and then they reduced the amounts to $300 per card with the same activation fees which makes it too expensive.

Woolworths/Big W have also removed selling westfields gift cards . They use to sell the $100 ones which was great when they ran sales like spend $100 get $10 off but again didn't last long. You wont be able to get a discount on westfields gift cards without the good knowledge.

IAG is a supermarket.

IAG is Insurance Australia Group = NRMA, CGU, Lumley Insurance etc
IGA is a supermarket chain (Independent Grocers of Australia)

It is also International Audio Group, but that is not relevant to this discussion or Australia :).

Was it a typo or deliberately cryptic?:)

Hopefully you are wiser for the experience.

Such a pain have to register a new account for every card. So you are the one to blame! Says $500 on the packaging.

Ok, it seems like you can put in the same email address and log in details when you register for each new card, payment will go through just fine. Fee equates to about 1 cent per point, but 2 points per dollar (3 if local champion) spent is not too bad.

I hammered the Vpay cards too from mobile 7-11 stores bought 8 grand of them in one night of the 1000 dollar cards. Next week they were taken down.

I just wasnt sure how the 7-11 part fit into supermarkets. Maybe I need to go to my nearest independent IAG store?

I think you mean IGA store.

I haven't been following the conversation so not sure if this is what you're asking, but I think 7-Eleven is counted as a petrol station/convenience store, which Amex pays 2 points per dollar. If you are able to go to an IGA supermarket and pay for it there, then it would be 3 points per dollar.

Confirmed 2 MR points per dollar at 7-eleven. $30 on to my go card (public transport) card yesterday at a cbd convenience store netted 60 MR points overnight.

In Sydney you can do Opal card topups at a lot of Woolworths stores, earning 3 points per $

Buying a gift card through cashrewards gets a 5% and still the supermarket rate of 3 points per $, so you might want to see if any of the super markets are actually offering a top up service too.

Not to mention QFF points over $30 :-)

Finished over a week ago in NSW

I wish :D. 7-eleven is as good as it gets up this way (7-eleven is the only to offer AMEX)... None of the majors offer top ups.
