Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Perhaps we need to go over to the flybuys thread and ask the rep if there is a 10 points per$1 available.

The 10x flybuys offer for eftpos cards was in last week's catalogue (now expired I believe). With the $100 value card, the flybuys would cover the activation fee, but it's still a lot of faffing about to offload multiple cards (which you would need to do to make it worthwhile). Also, as Shanye appears to have found out, if you massively game these offers, sometimes you will get called out.

Note to self, look at the catalogue.

Found some. On top of the GC stand it says 10x FB until stocks last:)

So assuming we find some left at our local Coles and we can pay for them on our Amex Edge cards what can we do with them? If the objective is to spend with your AMEX everywhere or then wash the credit into other cards that can be used for say ATO, I'll use WOW Visa Gift card for this example, is my Maths below right (I understand this might be a moot point given the offer is over/subject to availability):
EFTPOS Gift Card Fee per $100 $5.95
Fly Buys @ 10x = $5 (2,000 Fly Buys = $10 cash back so $100 GC = 1000 Fly Buys Points)
Net Cost before any other benefit $0.95 per $100
At 3 MR/$1 on Amex Edge, work out to 0.32c/point to get to use AMEX everywhere (or ATO at Post Office as mentioned earlier in this thread)

WOW Visa Gift Card with Max Load of $500 which you can load with EFTPOS only at WOW:
Issue fee $5.50 for $500 ($1.10 per $100)

ATO FEE on Visa (I'm assuming here the WOW cards will work on ATO site but not tried it myself - buyer beware):
$0.42 per $100

Adding these together, get $2.47/$100 cost to use them.
Earn 300 MR on AMEX edge for $2.47 per $100 = 0.82c/point

With ANZ disappearing, might be a viable, yet fiddly alternative and might not get enough to make it worthwhile with the offer over. ANZ seems the easier option but only for the next few weeks. Slim pickings for this type of spend going forward.

If the intent is to max MR point, it'd be best to become local champ somewhere first and up the rate to 400 points instead of 300.

I'm guessing you're referring to the ANZ black card for ATO spend?

I have happened to pass by two different coles' in the last few days, and could only find prepaid visa and coles' brand mastercards. I'm guessing if said eftpos cards can be found, there won't be many with the 10 points option left.
Would be interested in what these eftpos cards look like.

I bought a $100 Coles Gift card today and a bunch of Skype (40% off this week). There was not a sign saying 10 points $1. We'll see what happens. I also had a voucher of some sort, hopefully will all come through.

Oh, mine isn't black and white. Oh well, nothing really lost is there?

The 10x eftpos cards are not coles. They have 'the perfect gift card' and 'eftpos' on them. Happy hunting:)

I stopped by a Coles central at Wynyard Sydney CBD this morning and I did find them. Didn't see a sign about the fly buys offer (I understand it's finished and was "while stocks last") so they do exist- hadn't seen them before now.

None at Coles Midland, wa. If anyone could share a pic, I'll gladly quiz the staff. However without the 10ppd the value evaporates.

I think the 10x is dead.
The sign on top of the stand has gone and no info elsewhere.
Cant find last week's catalogue but this week's says the offers inside expire at end of catalogue date.

I still have a few I bought yesterday but not expecting the 10x bonus to post.
At about 1.3c/MR (local champ) it's not the worst deal ever but nothing like the 0.23c/MR I was hoping for.
