Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Just at my local woolies. Very prominent display for the offer but no stock on shelf or at the service desk.
Might have been "the perfect" offer coming off of the recent Coles offer. We usually shop at Coles. Did my shopping at woolies since we were already there which I assume is part of the point of the promotion - get us in the store to do our shop. Worked with me but I'm not converting.

Not one to be found after hunting through 3 stores over the last few days.

Not happy Jan!

3 stores was never going to cut it.

I've visited over 25 stores and the most I've found at any one store was a total of 8 cards.

I suspect WOW staff have purchased many of the cards before they were ever presented for sale. One WOW staff member remarked to me that she had used her WOW discount to buy the cards earlier that day.

It also appears that many stores never received any cards.

I'm up to 35 cards now. Looks like I wont get to the 50 I was after.

The $100 eftpos GC 'promotion' has to be one of the worst run 'promotions' I have seen for a while. No wonder WW is struggling against Coles.

Firstly, the GC activation issue for WA WW meant none of the $100 GC could be sold in WA at all until Friday morning. Secondly, the 'promoted' GC are only sold at about half of the WW in Perth. Thirdly, $100 GC stock must have been woefully inadequate prior to the 'promotion' starting (proven by the fact that the $50 eftpos GC were also difficult to find at WW and they were not part of the 'promotion').

At the end of the day, without a massive effort, I was able to scrounge up a 'few' here and there to keep me going until the hopeful 'Fathers Day' Coles MC GC promotion.

On the bright side (and I trust people will keep this under their hat), I have been able to sucessfully 'convert' a few of these GC into 'a more familiar (and useful) form'. I would suggest others wanting to 'convert' their GC do it at a self checkout, one a time and only once per visit to not raise any alarm bells. It is obviously better value overall not to 'convert' them but the option is available if required.

I have to agree.

Actually I've seen many $50 cards in the stores I have a look in.

I visited my three closest stores in Melbourne last Thursday and all three still had stock at the time so I was lucky enough to pick up a few. It doesn't really matter how much stock was available. All it would take is one greedy person going from store to store churning all the stock in each store and there would still be none left for everyone else.

Coles had a 10x flybuys promo on these cards in January. Not as generous as the Woolies version and I don't think it appeared on ozbargain yet I recall also having issues finding them in stock. I do remember that my local Coles only put them out on display on the last day of the promotion. If comparing Woolies and Coles over this promotion, I still favour Woolies for being more generous.

For the record, I have left plenty of giftcards behind on each of my three visits to a particular WW and have responded to contributing AFF members on location. I also value MR points too highly to churn

For those interested I have just seen some $50 card at Woolies town hall Sydney CBD near the checkouts. Don't know if $50 are part of the offer. I think there may be an issue with my Rewards card so will give this promotion a miss. Thought I'd report in on the small supply I spotted in case it helps other members in the area.

I have seen $50 in most stores I been, but it is not part of the promo.

The $50 cards were never advertised as part of the promotion and I don't believe that there has been a suggestion in this thread that they were part of the promotion.

I have tried putting 2 x $50 in one transaction to see if they would work anyway - they don't!

I've seen $50 cards in at least 75% of the stores that I have visited. Which was probably a very good indication they no one wanted them.

Was in Lane Cove store in Sydney about an hour ago - they have at least 20 * $100 cards.

Finally got some in Melbourne's east. Picked some up. At least 60 as the top-front row is filled with them. PM for deets,

Well, I just want to say that overall that was a very disappointingly executed promotion. No doubt the cards will start appearing now that the promo is over.

Are you guys able to pay off a credit card bill with the eftpos giftcard? If so, i wish i found more. Just a thought thats crossed my mind.
