Has anyone else tried The Salopian Inn in McLarenvale. Spectacular range of Gins and mighty fine food as well.

Is this the right thread?

Yes been there a few times but not for about a year. Food is excellent and lots of gins

Nice collection @swanning_it -do you have a favourite.

I tried the Four Pillars Christmas gin yesterday which was OK but wouldn't bother buying a bottle.

Also - I'm trying to educate people about tonic - no it's not acceptable to use home brand diet tonic FFS

This is going to sound really odd, but I actually like the good old Bombay East. Having said that, I'll drink just about anything!

Same here re the Four Pillars, but then it was suggested I just try it on the rocks. Will do Tomorrow! Still drying out from yesterday

I always try my gin straight now so I get a real taste of the gin especially when people have cough tonic but it still didn't wow me YMMV

On the other hand I did try the new Tanqeray Sevilla and really liked it.

I also tried the Dasher and Fisher Meadow gin the other day and a bottle is on it's way from Cellarmasters because some kind AFFer worked out how to get a discount.

I really like it. It really has a very orange nose

Have you tried the Brookie’s Slow Gin? It’s quite an interesting taste!
I'd never had any of the Brookie's Sam, but my daughter has tried a few (she's been there for a tasting day ) and likes quite a few of them. I'm now keen to try a few, so I can see a near future trip to Byron is a likely scenario!

On a different note, I tried the Vicker's Pink that I have and found it to be sickly sweet. In fact the word awful springs to mind!

I’ve tried a couple but not visited the distillery... let me know when you intend to go and if there’s space I’d love to tag along! :)
Now that sounds like a plan! We haven't caught up for ages. I wonder if any other GC AFFers (or otherwise) would be interested?? I'm next home in another week and a half ... what's your availability like?

My work can be pretty flexible with hours, so I’m free a lot of the time. That said, my mother is down at the end of January for 4 days and then some family friends are here at the start of February for Chinese New Year. So those would be blackout dates for me ;)

The best sloe gin I’ve had was the one I made myself while living in England.

I think it's too popular to have too many specials but we could post them on here if you find any
