Well, the time has come upon us again and will be running again for another year.

I thought I'd start this thread to gauge interest. With me being over in London, it will truly be, a Global Corporate Challenge this year!

I could probably manage my third year in a row.

With no extended holiday absences this year, please mark me as interested, but not necessarily committed till I know what is involved (other than a lot of walking).

I could manage another year; maybe a bit more golf this time.

It will be interesting to see how different it is for me being over in London now and not driving a car (why bother when the tube/bus gets you everywhere you need to be)! As it is, my job has me out on the road visiting clients all day and since I started this new role at the start of the year I've lost close to 5kg without even trying.

Last year I'd often have to make a point of going out for a walk/run to get the 10,000 step mark for the day but this year I think I'm easily doing it without even trying!

Last year I hinted I’d be keen, after volunteering jdevereux3, however I spend more times indoors than outdoors and unless I… no that’s not family friendly. Basically I don’t get out enough to clock up the steps. :p

I am interested. Been averaging over 5km a day recently and down about 8kg in the last few months. So hopefully will be able to contribute.

Interview with the founder on the QF Business Channel at present - listened to it today

Considering I'm all the way over ---> there, there's not much point in me trying to organise this. Will someone step up to do so?

Lindsay Wilson, perhaps you could bring over my pack (if it's sent out before you leave) when you come over.

I was wondering if it was happening again this year

Illl be in it if i can't convince the young things at work that run 10k a day that we want to put in a team! Though they will want work to pay for it!

I'l probably be in this one again!

SHane

I'll probably do this one again. Sorry been quiet on the radar here - snowed in with work and PhD!

If someone else could organise that would be nice. I'll do it if no one else will.

One of the challenges is organising where to send packages. Teams are 7 members each, we had two teams last year, but GCC will only do the following:
  • Each team has a team captain, who will receive all 7 packs for each member. The team captain must then distribute the packs to each member. Packs cannot be arranged by GCC to be mailed to each individual member. Seeing as one member is in London, this could be a challenge.
  • GCC packs are only mailed one week in advance of the start of the competition. You can imagine this then becomes a further challenge to re-mail them out to members in time for the start. It's been manageable, but I sorely do with that the GCC could be more flexible in this regard.

In any case, not to say this is a reason not to participate. It's just a challenge, that is all. Hope to see many people sign up - that would be fun to see a few teams. As I said, last year we had 2 teams. This year - who knows.....

Okay, I'm in. I looked at the dates when I got the GCC email and thought "woo hoo - starts just before my 7 week Europe holiday". Flashware, that could be a viable option (to bring yours over).

Sounds good.

Seeing as no one wanted to step up to the organiser's mantle, I took the initiative once again of registering AFF to participate in the GCC 2011.

Registration and so on information to follow soon. Stand by all interested footpersons.

In 2009 I participated via the AFF team and last year via a separate corporate team. I am happy to rejoin the AFF team for 2011. I will add an international flavour too as I'll be in France for all bar the first week of the challenge. With too much time on my hands I averaged over 21,000 steps last year so I should be able to contribute. Can't guarantee that I'll reach the same dizzy heights this year as there are a few more distractions in Paris than in Cairns ;)
