I've never seen "Chester draws" but I've seen "drawer" incorrectly written as "draw" many times - especially in Australia, as those two words are pronounced almost identically in the Aussie accent (not the case with a lot of other accents). Similar to "sought" and "sort".

Yes, we have the same, often you'll see "I opened the draw and found my spoon."
Chester comes from "chest of", so a chest of drawers = "Chester Draw" which, incidentally, makes an excellent cough name. :)

One of my favourite Freudian mis-spellings, seen on a supermarket community notice board :

"Rock wheeler puppies for sale"

An apt description for those enormous dogs.

It's the written mispronunciation of the term "Chest of Drawers" - from back before the days of Built in Wardrobes and Ikea type "'robe drawer inserts" ...

That's useful to know!

Not quite cough, but I've figured out where I had heard that name. It was the name of Arthur Atkinson and Tommy coughles sidekick character Chester Drawers on UK comedy show "Fast Train"

I saw a comment during the last Olympics where some poster claimed our swimmers were a bunch of "pre-Madonnas".

Years ago I rang a chap about a car asking for details about his Ply Mouth.
I wasn't interested in the car at all but just rang for fun. He never one corrected me.

I have a vewy gweat fwiend in Wome called Biggus Dickus.

What is all this insolence? You will find yourself in gladiator school vewy quickly with wotten behaviour like that.

Who are you? Elmer Fudd??

Speaking of English and pronunciation (no puns intended!), here's something I found and shared on Facebook. Knock yourselves out, people :)

I'm shocked that the youth of today don't know their Monty Python. In my day we couldn't see python because we had to work down pit for 16 hours a day.

You were lucky to have a pit, we had to borrow ours from our neighbour.(*)

To prevent this Grammar thread from becoming a Python-fest. I shall stop at this point.

(*) Yes I tweaked the theme a little bit.

Whoops. To combine both grammar and life of Brian let me offer:

"What's this thing? "ROMANES EUNT DOMUS"? "People called Romanes they go the house?"

Edit: which matches my last attempt to speak German where I told the credit card salesman at FRA "Ich nicht sprechen Deutsche" instead of Ich sprechen keine Deutsch.

instead of "Ich spreche kein Deutsch"
Only two grammar errors in a 4 word sentence. Excellent effort:p
