I thought Club Room gave you access regardless of status? Isn't that the point of a club room??

Yes I do agree, its sort of a half upgrade. Its been hit and miss for me with Bris Sofitel when I have been upgraded to the club room. Sometimes granted access and other times not.
So hopefully this change will streamline things for Platinum Status.

That sucks. Stayed there for two nights on the weekend, got upgraded to the club room but wasn't granted access to the lounge .....

Existing Club Room booking, mentions Club Sofitel access. Or do you mean that an upgrade doesn't count for Club access?

Have non-club room booked for Oct. Will be interested to see if I get lounge access as an Accor plat.

:pJust had a courtesy call from the Sofitel Brisbane Central concerning an upcoming stay to be informed that Accor Plats will have access to the Sofitel Club from Monday!:)

Was that for a Superior room or Luxury room

I had already booked a Club Room-received an upgrade to a Suite.
More details on Platinum access tomorrow.
Ok sorry for that, in your OP I took it that you had a normal type room booked and you were upgraded to Club. IMO if you had a club room already booked then access would have been automatic. However well done on the upgrade from a "room" to a suite

I wouldn't turn my nose up at this (I'm not a Plat) - but I was at the Sofitel BNE Central last weekend in a Club room and found the Club underwhelming - very dated and somehow had a surfeit of (dare I say) bogan-esque types.

YMMV ( I hope).
I on the other hand thought it was one of the better lounges I have experienced. Unless things have changed in a year I found it very spacious, great supply of drinks and a great choice of hot and cold dishes for both breakfast and in the evening.

This is all very promising, all we have to do now is to get them to allow us to use points

You can. They joined Le Club last year.
I know they joined up but have you actually used points there. The function wasn't available for me to use points while trying to book earlier this week

I made a booking last week and was able to use points. Note that not all rates are available to be booked with points...

I was trying to do a "Le Club AH loyalty platinum" rate booking, the option of being able to use some points didn't appear, although it does on the fully flexible rate. The rates are exactly the same. Too late now as Ive made the booking at the Novotel round the corner

Ok, well I thought beggar it, so I cancelled my Novotel booking and did a fully flexible rate at the Sofitel instead of the Plat loyalty rate and was able to use points. So if whats written here and on BT is correct, my superior room which I booked should turn into a club room with club access.

I think your Superior Room will stay the same but with Club Access. The only difference IMO with a Club Room is different toiletries (L'Occitaine Vs Lanvin) & an Nespresso machine. They are both the same size. The Club rooms are also on a higher floor as are the Superior rooms. Interested to know what you end up obtaining.
