Greenland expedition cruise August 2025

Only fly in my ointment is that I've just 😡finished booking an award trip to Europe in October next year, on QR. That will be my 4th trip overseas. A fifth might be stretching things , so the award trip might have to go. Fortunately via Alaska and Velocity, so pretty cheap to cancel.

Waiting for the TA to get back to me.

Oh! Opportunity for back-to-back and to do Greenland properly.

I need to find the folks flights to CPH for it from PER, so I'll have to reacquaint myself with how QFF works...... Should hopefully be able to find something on QR or EK.

Ugh. That’s me out. TA just advised that the only single cabins are triple shared and a high category with a huge single supplement. It is a bit late for booking to expect anything different on the discount front I guess.

I’ll see if there’s anything left on the following cruise.

I'm hanging in there. Spoke to TA; the price is available by using the link (but not sure of availability - they probably don't do live inventory). The TA is registering with them, so price may be available through them, but if not, I'll try to book direct tomorrow. 🤞

Myself and Mrs FB, plus the folks are all booked and confirmed on the Greenland trip 👍

Confirming - the August 25th departure?

If so, nearly there. Got a price via the website link and quite a bit cheaper than a parallel Ponant one, although Albatross doesn't include wi-fi (US$45/day for 'individuals and small groups') and booze other than dinner. I dare say, in common with the Nordic countries, the booze bought on board will be $$$$ ! Will have to do when I visited Iceland - just stop doing the FX conversion on purchases as I go.

I shall remember you, @Flashback when I spend my last few years in the poorhouse.

I have the departure down as the 23rd (but the reference in the invoice filename is 250823 for some reason, not sure why).

Not super fussed about WiFi, although may/could share a logon if needed. It'll definitely be reliant on VSAT (Starlink, given it's a new ship?) and coverage may not be so great given the region anyway. Although I do know Starlink has relatively good coverage in Greenland based an an installation I know of there (mining...... of course). If I am working again then my mind may change, but then again.... my business will pay for it.

Not fussed at all about the drinks!

And, you're welcome ;)

FYI showing as sold out on Cat C rooms now (no surprise really!), but Cat C superior still available for marginally more also.

It could also just be the allocation for this deal that's sold out, rather than all Cat C rooms.

I do like that the starting town name has 'kanger' in it...... it seems it was meant to be for a bunch of 'roos' to be on board

The flight stops in KEF on the way over and back, by the way. Charter flight.

I think some may say that there are going to be a few 'roos loose in the top paddock.

Thanks for the confirm; yes its a Superior C that they are offering. Quite a large single supp ... but Greenland is the very last place I really want to go to, and haven't yet plans to go.

Will send the e-mail now (and then cancel my other award flight trip ... )

When I started looking at the cost of flights (from either KEF or CPH), and saw how expensive they were even from KEF which is a short hop.... plus the cost of accommodation, plus the cost of a car and the 'ease' at moving around, it became a no brainer from me! This is coming from someone who tried cruising for the first time in January this year and said "that's a hard no!". Expedition cruises though, I think are more suited to Mrs FB and I compared to our jaunt in January. But more on that when we catch up on the deck ;)

Reverse order ? - 23rd of 08 in 2025.

That's because my electronic payslip comes with the same pattern except it is my date of birth. 🤣
It's the format I use a lot, especially when naming files (you'll see it in the titlebar of the PDF image snip I pasted earlier), but I always use the full year; makes it more obvious and better from a filing perspective.
