Surprised MEL-HKG at I9 didn’t release. That’s generally an easy route for a releaseRequested 2 x U
Both denied. On an August weekend so I wasn't particularly optimistic but thought I'd give it a try.
- SYD - HKG I7
- MEL - HKG I9
I did get a Dec 24 date quite late for 1 x family last year, so may try again for just the one. Better than both of us up the back.Surprised MEL-HKG at I9 didn’t release. That’s generally an easy route for a release
What was the "business sale" availability . That seems a better indicator of seat release rather than number of "i" seats.Surprised MEL-HKG at I9 didn’t release. That’s generally an easy route for a release
Business sale availability on both flights, ex SYD and ex MEL.What was the "business sale" availability . That seems a better indicator of seat release rather than number of "i" seats.
I generally wait a week and call again. The droid / manual review is a lotteryHow long do you guys wait before requesting again?
Thanks @arrow. I'll give it a try.I generally wait a week and call again.

Lax-Bne QF 16
Biz sale revenue seats present,
I9
only 2 business seats allocated in seatmap( yes I know that this is not that relevant )
Droid says NO.
I already have a LAX-MEL-BNE conx initially via an A380 but have been burnt 3 times in the lat year by signifigant delays ( i asume due to engineering / maintenance isssues on this a/c). 787 much more reliable and , of course, direct. Still I cant complain, I am able to get home.Seems pretty unfortunate to not get this releasedany luck asking for a 380 service via SYD?
For domestic flights requests you need D class availability.Expert Flyer was showing I class available for the 12th, but no I class available on the 10th, however both got approved.

BTW is there somewhere that I can look up how many points are needed for a seat before ringing the priority line and asking for the seats to be released? On some routes (e.g. HKG-SYD) there often aren't any seats available on any dates for months to use to get the data.
Edit - ignore this - I think that I have just found it!
Many thanks @sudoer - my list of bookmarked Qantas calculators and tables keeps growing!Qantas has a calculator, but I prefer to use gcmap and the classic flight reward tables..
