The flight connections as given all seem rather ideal to me! I think relax and go with the flow here.
TBH I am a bit dopey tonight - I keep yawning - can't wait to finish work on Friday, when I have three weeks off. Thanks for the nudgeHope you got the significance of thein that post!
It worked for me.......might as well give it a go.
Only one thing to worry about-fog.
I used to RLF for 107 jumping over tape barriers etc after going through the arrival process at LAX but after doing this 3 or 4 times I eventually decided that it was bollocks and these days I just get there when I get there - and I still always make the connection to JFK.This topic been done heaps of time on AFF, this connection is not an issue. If QF93 is running late they will either hold 107 or protect pax onto AA, where transcontinental cabins are OK. For the OP's dilemma, even arriving an hour late (at 8:50) should be OK with an express pass, as long as you don't dawdle on the painful detour through the DF store.
The 0630 out of DPO is often delayed because of fog(or sea mist as they call it here). It also overnights in DPO.Is that really an issue? Even if there was fog on the morning, it wouldn't matter because the aircraft will overnight in CBR. (I hope that's the case anyhow, because I'm flying out of CBR on the same morning)
The aircraft will have takeoff minimas so fog can be an issue. Is that really an issue? Even if there was fog on the morning, it wouldn't matter because the aircraft will overnight in CBR. (I hope that's the case anyhow, because I'm flying out of CBR on the same morning)
Is that right? I've never had an issue with morning fog departing CBR, usually the jets can still take off, I thought the problem was just with landing? The 0630 out of DPO is often delayed because of fog(or sea mist as they call it here). It also overnights in DPO.
See my post #27 above. All the a/c have t/o minima so fog can be a problem. Is that right? I've never had an issue with morning fog departing CBR, usually the jets can still take off, I thought the problem was just with landing?
Agreed. The advanced forecast for CBR next Wed is 0 - 22 deg and mostly sunny.Besides, fog in CBR is quite unlikely at this time of year anyway I would've thought![]()

You're kidding, right? CBR is notorious for being fogged in. First flight out of CBR to MEL Friday last week was fogged in - sat on the tarmac for about two hours. Happens all the time during autumn/winter/spring.

Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about. Flights arriving in CBR in the morning would have more issues I would've thought. I have (fortunately) never had an issue departing CBR on the first flight out - however the ones departing after 8am have the potential for delays. Not quite. The first flights out which is what the poster was talking about are generally ok, but sometimes like the other day departures are also effected. The bigger issue is flights that don't overnight in Canberra.

I wouldn't be too worried about the QF93-107 change at LAX. They most likely will give you express passes if you are late which most certainly will help. That and your bags will be tagged "Business" means they should come out quickly and on a separate carousel to standard Y bags. At least that is what happened to me last week - call on the PA saying bags tagged J/F will be on one carousel, the others on a separate one. I didn't count, but it was about 15 mins from me taking my seatbelt off in PE to briskly walking down to immigration, waiting behind 3 or so people in the express line, going to the carousel where my bag came out within 1 minute (there were plenty of other bags already out, some J before F), then to customs which was another couple of minutes and then finally walking out of the terminal. I couldn't believe it.
I've flown into LAX from QF93 only a few times and every time has been a dream, even without any express or priority channels. In my experience it seems reasonably quiet at that time of morning. Every person who has told me about LAX has described it to be a nightmare but I guess I have been lucky.
You are lucky that QF107 departs from TBIT. If you had to go to T4 for a QF codeshare on AA not only would the walk take a bit longer but there would be more people at security to line up behind.
Oh, hang on to your orange express pass for another time if needed![]()

Holiday - so yes we have the flexibility to take it easy on the first day if we want. Or all 13 for that matter I guess!I don't know what you're off to New York for but another option is to plan to not have anything too important planned on the first day. That way if you're delayed (or tired due to 14 hours of screaming kids) you're not too worried about the impact on your plans.
I've lived in CBR all my life and I've always been under the impression that you can always get out on the first flight, even if it is foggy.
