Hi,

Parents are travelling on VA to AUH in J. Their friends are travelling in Y+. Can the J passengers guest Y+ passengers (2J,2Y+) into the Koru lounge. They are in J but don't hold any status. Website isn't entirely clear, what are your experiences?

Thanks

Unless one of the 4 have EY or VA SG or WP status only the J passengers will be allowed access (no guests). You might be able to swing one extra guest if you ask really nicely but I doubt you'd manage 2.

You can pay to access the SYD Koru Lounge, I'm pretty sure I saw a tiny A4 sized piece of paper on the front door. You can only see it from the inside.

yeah i've seen that before, think it's about $50-$60 per guest.. not really worth it for a pretty average lounge..

I've always been a big fan of the NZ Lounge at Syd Intl. but haven't been there for over a year. That said, I'd never pay $50 for a one time entry.

I was there last Sunday. There is no way it's worth $50 for say just breakfast. Self-serve coffee no barista, relatively limited food. I see they have a hot dog cart (hello VA!) and spirits on the bar, so maybe if you had two hours to spend in the company of other fellow travellers in the afternoon onward you'd pay $40. The magazine selection was very poor.

The Hot dog cart has been there for years - long before VA. I have thought is was basically there to appease the daily hordes of UA PAX that descend on the lounge in the middle of the day. It certainly gets flattering reviews from USA denizens on FT.

The one-off entry cost is $55 for up to 4 hours and $85 for longer!

It's certainly not a bad lounge but unless you are planning to hit the booze really hard I wouldn't pay for entry. You will be able to get as good a meal in the terminal for less than $55 and the ambience isn't that great inside anyway - it's like a big barn.
