AS mentioned in that other thread, it seems strange to announce withdrawal then re-introduce. Where is the 744 capacity coming from that they didnt have to continue the service?

The other factor that is irritating with transcon is that the aircraft all fly daytime flights with skybeds - surely it's the redeye flights where you want "lie flat" sleeper seats? I guess it's not that simple as the peak demand (ie capacity) is needed daytime.

Someone did say OJD was hanging around for a little bit longer even though retirement hangs over her head.

I wish QF would throw a bit of love at the BNE-Perth route. It's the longest but seems to be last at getting any aircraft upgrades.

What are you talking about?

Previously it was a mix of 738's and 767's.

At least there is a 330 thrown in there as well which has the AVOD IFE for the trip.

Ok, ok you're right! I was overstating it a bit.

The Dreamtime would be superb if it had a proper AVOD system - perhaps that's the answer :)
I was confronted by these out of PHL last week: (They are Called Envoy by USair)

Remind you of anything?

The AVOD was a removal tablet designed to slide into a rack at the end of an extendable arm that folder out from the Armrest - for my "domestic" flight there was none.

I suspect a case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

Possibly, but a simpler explanation seems that they didn't anticipate DJ unveiling sleeper beds to compete with them on the transcon, and the best that QF can do in the short term to offer better skybed availability on the route is to bring the 747s back.

If the 747 is staying on SYD-PER, perhaps the SYD-NRT route won't get its 747 upgauge next month?

It's a shame the older A330-200's won't take the Skybed. There will be a whole lot of Skybed MK1's hanging around from the 747 refits.

It's actually their for newest 332's that don't have skybed: VH-EBM-EBP.

Could the skybed mk 1 be upgraded to run the new AVOD that these newer aircraft have in J and whY now?

Chris- the older 332's that were originally with QF domestic but now with JQ are not able to have sky beds due to issues with the strength of the floor.

Oooh! Of course! Sorry!

Could they have a dreamtime style seat?
