Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I tried my first call to the line today. :( I will have to rework things and give it another go.

I wanted to do something similar to Anna's trip to Northern Queensland (via the scenic route) but alas it was pricing as individual sectors :( :-|

I asked Anna during the ADL christmas drinks about that particular booking. If I understand correctly, that booking didn't eventuate (not for 48K points anyway). Hope this helps.

Thanks. Might have to work out alternatives. Was just thinking it would be a great way to get some easy SC. Never mind. Thanks again.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

"Karen" (not sure where from) was very professional but had to check the min points for ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL and said that it was an anomaly that has been identified and will be corrected (to 72000). I was informed that I may not be able to book this in the future. :( if there is anyone wanting to take advantage of this. Now is your chance. Hurry!
I think there might be something funky in the system with flights to/from ADL.

I noticed when I was looking for some BNE-xx_-PER runs, that going via SYD or MEL was always 50k points, but going via ADL was 36k points. This was true for any day where a Classic Award via ADL was available (in either direction).

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Had seen ADL-TSV, but unless you live there it is very difficult to get the flights to line up, as limited number of flights ADL-BNE.
Equally ADL-CBR is very good value - particularly via SYD, but not much availability in and out of CBR thanks to HBA routes.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

you are all going to get into trouble with Jess (and now I will too hahaha) for the thread hijack.

BWWWWAAAAAAA

sorry Jessica
But with some seriousness well done to all for your persistence getting these bookings and reporting back to us

(yeah, yeah I expect this post to be deleted or moved)

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | DRW-BNE-TSV return | 75 000 pts | $149.74+ $7.00 CC fee| ?| ? | 280 SC (560 DSC)

First one of these, it was a bit of a process on the phone (45 minutes). I was asked at one stage whether I worked for Qantas as due to the operator saying I was not supposed to book flights this way.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site as these flights will get me to platinum. Something I thought I would never get near.

Hi all. A friend of mine gave me this forum as a helpful tool and I must say how impressed I am !!! I am in Mount Isa and have been running around in cirlces trying to book a JASA the last few weeks. I have come to accept that I may just have to take a separate flight out of Isa into Bris and then do a JASA run from there. I am totally impressed with the DRW - BNE - TSV return above.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could find a run from Isa? The ones I did find and tried to book ended up being over 160000 points and nearly $1000. Needless to say, I didn't book.

I know today is the deadline! So am getting desperate! LOL

I booked one today with Michelle who was great and didn't need any prompting.

She said "we've all been warned that the people who ring up to book these are likely to know more about how to book them than we do" lol

She had booked an ADL BNE TSV JASA yesterday for someone. Ok who was it. Bound to be an AFFer :p

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

My first mASA telephone booking. Called at 726pm, Sunday night. Roger on the Premium line, obviously very familiar with mASAs. Asked for "Any Seat award in U class, please."

"Of course, Mr Stupid, that is eligible for all SCs and points."

Booked, and hung up by 730pm.

DEC29 | Oct 2014 | J | OOL-SYD-LAX | 96 000 PTS | $694.56+$30 | 220

(edit : retail for one way J on same flights is $7375, points plus pay (after I'd booked) is 833,500 points)

(edit: minor hiccup in that Roger was obviously not so familiar: charged the 6000 international assistance fee, but a quick phone call and I' assured that will be reversed. I will check in a few days...)

Gee, you would think that they would get the name of a WP correct. Did you tell them it was stoopid?

Update:
6000 points refunded. And I changed it from OOL-SYD-LAX to BNE-SYD-LAX by phone (premium line, doh, had forgotten no chauffeur for OOL).

No fee for itinerary change.

Yeah, when I'm out of a job perhaps I can moonlight as a Qantas CSA...

Either that or Red Roo should sign up all the CSA's to AFF so they can "get with the program"

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just in case anybody else is in the same boat...& dare I say it, while there's still time...

JASA booking made this time last week, to help me get to WP for the first time, still had not ticketed by this evening, despite appearing under "My Bookings" when logged in. Looked up at the clock, & thought I'd better call, to be sure, to be sure. Spoke to very helpful CSR, who informed me my booking had been "Rejected" (which he read off the screen in front of him) for some reason.

As my heart rate rose, I then proceeded to open my Expert Flyer saved searches just in case...

He couldn't work out why my booking had been rejected, so placed me on hold for ~5 min while he checked with the Help Desk. All sorted, & reassured E-Ticket should appear in the next few hours. Phew!!

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Bookings are apparently logged in zulu time so there are still a few hours if anyone wants to take the risk of making another booking now and seeing if it earns DSCs......

The second down FQ1468 should have flown FQ1516 but that went non-operational somehow according to Canberra Qantas staff, they could not elaborate further although I had flown down on it from Sydney.
So I need to call the call centre to work out the resolution for buying business and flying economy. I need the SC and booked as such.

So be careful you dont have any 0's like my flight from SYD-CBR.

I think I see a pattern - my QF Link flight on Christmas Day posted with 0 points and SCs while subsequent connecting flight which was on QF domestic (on the same booking) posted with points and SCs... So it looks like QF Link is the weakest link?
