Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Red Roo: there is quite a bit of contradictory language out there.

Is the intention as follows?

A mASA booked before the end of today (March 28) will earn status credits and points as before?

A mASA booked from March 29 and June 30 will earn status credits and points, but under the new scheme?

If so, what would be the points/SC earning under the new system, given that the relevant fare classes are not currently listed in the earning table?

I called up - went through all the details and got a ticket only to find they had charged me J prices for a Y ticket. Called back and my only option was to cancel and use classic awards.

I cancelled and re booked on VA.

Where is the 28th march date coming from... the QF website says only tickets before 27 March will get the old earn rate (ie the date of the announcement)

[h=3]More changes to take effect in July 2014[/h]A change to selected Any Seat Award bookings
From 1 July 2014, we're removing the ability to make an Any Seat Award booking on Qantas flights using Classic Award[SUP]#[/SUP] booking classes (X, Z, U or P). Existing bookings will not be affected by this change.
Existing bookings beyond July 2014
For members with a booking made prior to 27 March 2014 in a fare class impacted by these changes for travel on or after 1 July 2014, we will automatically credit your account within a month of flying with the Qantas Points that applied when you made your booking.

That particular part of the website says that, yes. Other parts say otherwise.

And I doubt excluding a booking on the morning of March 27 but prior to the announcement would be considered fair.

bookings made on 27 March would be eligible - they can't retroactively change that.

but to exclude bookings from the morning of the 28th would be valid.

I would suggest a screen-shot of the 28th pages.

"prior to 27 March 2014" does not include 27 March 2014.

Just one of many points requiring clarification, hence the questions.

I believe that mASAs booked before 27th March will earn at the current rate.
Those booked from today for flights before 1 July will earn at the current rate.
Those booked for flights after July 1 will earn at the new rate.

mASAs will not be able to be booked after 1 July but the online ASAs will.

This is just my understanding from the comments made by Red Roo, and reading of the recent emails and posts on the Heads up about program changes thread.

It will require further clarification to be sure.

This is also my understanding, but we really could do with a plain English confirmation from Red Roo.

Trouble is the caveat link in the airline earning T&C's.

I booked a MASA 2 days ago now, (before these 'wonderful' changes were announced) yet my booking still hasn't been ticketed.

Spoken to 3x different reservations staff over the last 2 days and they are just saying your booking is confirmed but its stuck as there are problems with our FF system... 3pm on Friday still no ticket I better get on this damn flight!!

Anyone else had ticketing problems with MASA in the last day or so?

I booked one yesterday under the assumption that the old earnings rules would apply, but it didn't ticket until today, which under the current incarnation of the FAQ means that the new rules apply.

Two previous bookings in the past couple of weeks also failed to ticket within the same day.

This is also my understanding and I'm about to go and pull the trigger on a BNE/MEL or vv JASA. Wish me luck...

I would not be so sure - there have been some changes today that means it's too late:
... That has been changed -and in a BIG way. (Frequent Flyer - Program - Fairer Flying FAQs)

Q: When do these changes take effect?
A: The changes are effective for travel on and from 1 July 2014. This means if you book on/after 28 March 2014, for travel on or after 1 July 2014 you will earn Qantas Points and Status credits in line with these new Airline Earning Tables.

Q: What if I've already booked?
A: If you have flights already booked (booked and ticketed prior to 28 Mar 14 ) for travel on/after 1 July 2014, you will earn the Qantas Points and Status credits that applied at the time you made your booking. The applicable Qantas Points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account approximately four weeks after the dates of the flight(s) taken.

I disagree serfty. That wording specifically only covers on or after 1 July earning, not the shoulder period 27/28 March to 30 June (inclusive):

Where does it mention the dates that we want clarified?? Both travel on/after dates in those points are on/after 1 July 2014, nowhere is it mentioned yesterday/todays date.

Therefore, by a process of deduction, the status quo must remain in the intervening booking and travel between 27/28 March and 30 June period.

Arrrgghh, since when did they change that wording in the last point??? Retrospectively, they can't do it :(

Post #847 - http://www.australianfrequentflyer....out-program-changes-58914-22.html#post1016906

Confirmed that you will earn post 1st July but at the new rates. Phew!

I'm looking at a JASA to AKL and on my preferred dates a QF codeshare on LAN metal is coming up. Will I be able to book this as a JASA?

Mr Orange, I was just about to say the same thing:

Yes. If you book a MASA next week for a post 1 July travel, you will still earn, but it will be at the new rate.
If you book a MASA today, you will earn at the existing rate.
You will not be able to book a U class MASA from the 1st of July onwards.
So how do you explain this reply by Red Roo then serfty??

No, I'm still right... this sentence doesn't mention "for travel between now and 30 June" only after 1 July...

I'm confused - I'm booking. Either I get them or I don't. I just want to devolve myself of points now.

it's only the status of bookings that are affected.

if you booked and ticketed by 27 March you will earn at the old table rates post 1 July.

if you book today, new rates apply post 1 July.

if you relied on the old QandA (book by 28 March) then i would suggest the screen shot of the old QA will be enough (on a legal basis) to get you earning at the old rate post 1 July.
