Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

The availability for F in A380 QF1 and QF 9 in classic / MASA is unusually low at the moment. I do not think they are being snapped up, just not many being released. This is different to the pattern in 2012 and 2013. I doubt they are expecting more fully paid F tickets for May / June 2015 so I do not understand the change.

Maybe they are withdrawing routes.

Booked a convoluted trip out of Perth for Melbourne to get to the AFL grand final so it will be "hello Sydney and Brisbane" to get home. Must remember to book earlier in the future.
Making Platinum on points is only possible for a few more days.

Not that we are counting.

Actually I have been counting with two complete journeys booked today from London.
Not sure if Mrscove wants to do the chocolate run to Adelaide and back just for status.
I guess I could send her on QFI to Los Angeles in J and get her back on SQ. It is very tight on availability on QFI.

They don't expect more paid passengers, I don't think. They have clearly indicated JASA/FASA do not represent good value from their point of view. So, why release any seat in U/P buckets before 1 July? The fallacy of this argument is that at least there are people now, ready and willing, to part with quite a decent bundle of cash in order to book JASA/FASA. The same people might very well book Classic awards post-July, but Qantas will not see any amount of cash close to the level people are prepared to pay right now. I guess this is what they've been taught in all their MBA classes: don't take money of willing customers right now, just wait and charge them less money sometime in the future!!!

Dunno, I see excellent value in flying F SYD-LHR-SYD for $1,550. Sure the recent FASA I booked cost $2,000 but given I pick up 74,400 QFFP & 840SC - I can see why QF is giving them the flick. $450 extra bucks to achieve >2/3 of WP....what a joke!

Can't say the same for the new partner SC earn ..... this will be the reason I move away from QFF.

and there you have nailed the discussion in a couple of short sentences. There is a reason they are going but how many will be alienated?

That is exactly the point I was trying to make.

Yeah, just those measly 384,000 points omitted from your equation... ;)

For me 384,000 QFF points has a minimum cost of ~$1612, add this to the numbers and you can "calculate" the cost of your WP status via this method as follows: -

($1612 + $450)=$2062) + 33.3% = $2,748

An interesting question is that people always talk about what a Qantas frequent flyer point is worth....My Question is what is the value / cost / worth of WP status...? Even more interesting is the value / cost / worth of all tier levels being P1, WP, SG, & PS....? What does everyone think, after all as a company, Qantas (shareholders) care more about revenue than anything else don't they...? So what is a fair price to pay for these status tiers including the elite's...?

Or am I merely being too simplistic in my analysis...?

Depends on what the points cost you. Without doubt QFF is a very expensive scheme for anyone paying $ (ATO) for points. If the points are generated via flying and fee free CC activity it competes with the competition.....add in cheap status - it's a clear winner.

Agreed, but you have to pay some to earn some...., can see you're on the ball with my numbers, but what about yours, I'm sure at full revenue fares you need to spend a bit to accumulate ~384k in points.... even if a byproduct of flying, it's still revenue and obviously priced into the fare is it not...?

What came first, the chicken or the egg...

Anyone tried to book yesterday or today? When I rang late yesterday and again this morning, the CSAs advised that the particular booking engine was down, with faults reported. This morning's agent suggested it was everyone trying to get in before 30th June.

I made a booking yesterday afternoon.

Tried to book a JASA on Friday SYD-CGK-SYD, all went well on the phone and the flights show up on my QFF account with a valid booking ref. However, no points have been deducted and it still hasn't been ticketed :(

Yep, I have two like that. Apparently it's a "known issue".

With the current promo , I noticed this line:

Plus, we've released 5 million Classic Award seats to help you make the most of this fantastic offer.

I wonder if that's going to help us in our final days of bookings xASA's.
