I did very much enjoy getting my J AAward recently, all flights on Qantas. If I'm not going to earn SC I might as well get the cheapest deal possible.

Just tell them you want to pay 24000 points only.

Just redeemed a lovely per-mel-akl at 17.5k through AA, to hell with the sc's

did you get the name of the CSR you were talking to? Name them, so that maybe RedRoo can feed that back to whoever it is that is in charge of this <poor> training(or lack of).

Or, at the same time, those that provide excellent service like Trudy did for me

Yeah. All well and good. I still have over a million QFF points in the family that need burning off.

But don't worry: my CC spend is hAAving some ReAassessment

And I have raised this before. MAAybe we need to stop mentioning another AAirline because things there may be enhanced

:)

I will be shortly be booking my first MASAs since the change over. Both regional YASA and intl. JASA. Being ADL all have to be routed via east but I may not ask for a xMel-xSYD initially. Will later try existing social engineering techniques to cash procure uniform. Can U0 still end up as PBPASROW?

And I think I already said this but I'm happy to abandon xASA for Z10s. I realise some of you out there depend on them for status but 35k mileage is where it is at. Good for burning that last million off.

er, um, ok, well, yes and no. I get a lot of it but my google searches show Z10s AAs some sort of telephone. You may have lost me there

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

is there a "spreadsheet" with recent success info re MASA's that we can refer too and add too...? ie point burn and taxes paid...?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Z10 = QF zone 10 oneworld award. max 35k miles. I know people call them 140/280/320k awards here. Meanwhile 50k mile oneworld AAward here I come! ;)

I'm still too stunned by Z10s to even think straight

But someone mentioned such a few pages back. I haven't sought access, but you could look back a bit. For simple A to B I just have a good look at the available prices on the net and develop an idea of what my booking should cost. But such a spreadsheet would be of interest

I think I gave a hint of understAAnding in my reply

Newk, I'm more thinking of somewhere to post on my successful booking , it will be of interest to me to see if we all are getting similar value

Ok, nevermind the PM then! AApologies...

Yes we might have to start another spreadsheet?

Advising points per SC with your booking would be a start.

No need for the exact itinerary unless you want to - that's what PM is for.

The best I got so far is 290.

What about cash component though? I used to get huge SC/points sometimes *cough* 640SC for 60,000 *cough* but the cash component impaired it somewhat.

you beat me to it. Legroom, how do you account for the cash component?
I'm not so much looking for a measure like this. I'm more for maxing SC earn for when I am going somewhere in real life, not SC run life :)
That said I would be interested in a standard way of calculating this and then I can compare what I am likely to book anyway. Hopefully that all makes sense

True

I don't know how we could factor in the $$ component to have a like-for-like comparison.

My assumption is that it should be somewhere between 1.5-2.5x the $$ component of Classic.

Anything more, it may devalue the MASA.

Your thoughts ?

EDIT: how about points per SC (PPS) divided by the cash component converted into % ?

Same PPS but higher cash would then give you a lower 'MASA' score.

For example, 290 PPS / $500 (58%) is poorer value than 290 PPS / $300 (96%)
