re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Meeting finished - impressive that we spoke for 70 minutes on the issues as well as a number of unrelated points (Princess Fiona got a mention :D)

Was that about my CL membership getting lost in the mail again ??

Re: MASA score

hopefully I have time tomorrow to do a booking or two and work out my figures. (Shakes his head at the madness)

I'm with you Newk.... Have some nice ones worked out to call up and book tomorrow, unlike some, 95% of my bookings are where I actually need to be, and due to life's time restrictions there is little time left to look for "warped routes" requiring a few connections...

Legroom, you should work for the tax office, I think you'd be pretty good at writing tax law which on the other hand might actually be easier to understand than the "legroom Index" ;)

2 out of 2 here now so that's 100% for MASA's for me this week

ADL - SYD Return 48k & $295

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I just checked now, and it does. 24,000 points.

Which is still not right. Adl-Mel is zone 1 =16000. Adl-syd is zone 2, syd-Mel is zone 1 = 24000+16000. As I said, it doesn't seem right.

I think you are right and I have mistaken memories.
I've just checked Business Adelaide/Melbourne return is 32,000 points, classic award. Via Sydney both ways is 48,000, classic award. Anyway, whatever it is/was, I have always figured the extra few points involved, if any, when booking as an ASA must be worth it for the SCs. And, no I haven't worked out a cost/value for the SCs sorry :) (Partly because I cannot calculate the value of showers and champagne in DXB)

I think I am starting to get the hang of this.

Classic awards points are priced at the sum of the distance of the sectors, no matter where you end up.
xASAs points are priced at the distance from start to finish, no matter the route.

So, ADL-SYD-MEL is zone 2 (24000) for a classic, zone 1 (16000) for an ASA.

Oookaaaay. Now we need to work on the "slider" when we do our bookings?
Maybe my memories aren't failing me. :)
No wonder it's hard for the new booking engine :)

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Exactly.

You need to look at and understand the definition of 'trips' and the distance thereof in relation to classic awards in the T&C's.

I did use the word "seems" because I fail to see why anyone in their right mind would buy a connecting classic award. Especially from adl which is cursed with 737s.

Am I in syd on the 23rd? I'll have to check.

Re: MASA score

so if you add via melb to get to syd what should the points be?
i was quoted 64,000 and $415

Was there U availability? Was it a valid "classic" connection?

If it was both of the above then you can reduce it to the classic minimum 48k

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I think all these subtle differences will soon be moot, anyway.
