So I've just spent half an hour with someone and they had a lot of trouble trying to get me the JASA from Mel-Syd return.

It was quite clear that many of these operators still need to get used to this new system and I think extra training needs to be arranged, however the guy finally came through for me:

MEL - SYD - MEL l J l 39,000 Points l $156 co-pay l $7 C/C Fee l Flying Saturday returning 2 hours later.

Slight nervousness! The date I'm wanting to book is showing as available, BUT with the "i" message quoting that seats will be in economy from either Melb or Syd. Is it maby possible that on some flights ASA for the actual business class (no downgrades) booking are not added?

Second part to my nerves is that 2 days before my intended flight, they have nearly exactly what I wany, not Melb - NY (via LAX), but Melb - Syd - NY. My concern is that I can either wait for my desired day, risking losing the available day that's ready to book; or so 2 days early BUT taking other type of leave to make the flight (ie: sick).

Short version: Does QFF open up each "day" to actual U class, without the "taken as economy", or am I dreaming if I wait?

The answer to your question is "usually".

If you have spare points, book now - cancel later when you have the "right" combination.

I managed to do my first call MASA today. THe operator I got said she'd had 3 of these in the last 2 days and she was VERY profficient!

Don't forget the sliding scale of points & Cash - that nearly caught me out when I was quoted a much higher than expected points value and assumed I'd booked th worng date. This was quickly rectified and all good.

39000? Should be 32000

I believe the reason for the 39,000 is because the co-pay is lower. I booked a 32,000 one and the co-pay was ~ $208

Brilliant. Decided to snap up a cheap PER-SYD return fare, and do a status run while I am there. So this Australia Day I am flying SYD-xBNE-TSV return, and should secure me WP (depending at what rate I get credited SC for a Government Y fare next week)

Agent was painless, never done one before, and found it hilarious I was able to give her the Right on Q number!

Would have loved to do it last night at work (outbound calls from a 000 centre are a bit tricky to time...) so an online option would be grand. However- Roll on WP!

I did one earlier today, in whixh im confused with the credit card charge (international flight, 1 way for 2 people) of $60.00?

Is it meant to be $30 per person, or is it a total cost of $30 per credit card booking?

For international Qantas charge $30 per person. Will show as YR code on the fare calculations.

This depends on the fare conditions that the operator will advise you.

Typically JASA and FASA have fairly flexible conditions, but there are a few routes with cancellations and change fees applied, such as some Aus-Asia routes.

I'm looking at two JASAs soon to help a friend retain SG taking advantage of DSC. I've found these two classics and was wondering if someone could help advising what the appropriate level of taxes to pay would be:

1) CBR-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD-CBR in Business (except with the final SYD-CBR leg in Y) is showing as 68,000 points + $190~ as a classic. What is the JASA co-pay?
2) CBR-BNE-AKL-SYD-CBR in Business (except with the final SYD-CBR leg in Y) is showing as 72,000 points + $235.92 as a classic. Same question!

Also, since the final SYD-CBR leg in both cases is only showing Y Classic availability when I search on the website, will the agent know to book it into X for full Y SC earn or will I have to specifically ask for it?

At least if you take option 2 you can pick up some duty free which might lessen the pain.....some drink to remember, some drink to forget

That sounds wrong. It shouldn't be points, only cash. Maybe they got it confused with a classic award again?

As for the original question, change fee depends upon fare (& origin). It's similar to the commercial fares, usually Business Saver ex-Australia. Certainly flying the other way IME there are no fees (maybe cancellation) and you can change at will.

We did the flight change today and was told no change fee.
However, there was increased co-payment & another two credit card fees again.
It took lots of double checking with others (re: fares), but was still straightforward.

I just did an international date change in the last 2 hrs.

Originally Melb / Syd / NY (via LA).

Now a few days later: Melb / Bris / NY (via LA).

No charges fir us, infact like a $0.67c or so refund on the credit card!

I will add it to the successful page sometime later, both original booking and the changed booking.

This was for two people. Took a little bit of time to work through the steps on the phone and the agent basically tried to talk me out of doing this and book a classic award. Even went so far as to say that "I have made a note in the booking saying that I didn't recommend this. If it goes wrong Qantas will take this into consideration".

Anyway, did look at the classic taxes and there were about $120 less.

Hope you took down his name and sent a complaint to Qantas. Why would a JASA booking go wrong anyway?

PM your booking reference to RedRoo as that staff member needs retraining.
