re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I booked a JASA MEL - BNE - MEL on Tuesday, and got told that I had to book one of the legs as a commercial fare as well.

I had no idea what that meant and just told the lady that I believed that was incorrect. She put me on hold and sorted it out and said she was wrong. And I ended up booking with no problems.. Maybe just try again with a different operator. I didn't even really understand what she meant when she said that.

Rang the 1300 number, got a guy who did not understand

This Q performance really is a beyond a joke, bring back ASA's on line and stop putting so many customers through the ringer. Mind you we AFF members and other forum hacks are only a small part of the QFF brigade just imagine how those not in the know feel.

Any idea how long does these xASA take to be ticketed? My reservation shows up on the QFF My Bookings page, but points have yet to be deducted...

Doesnt normally take too long if you go to activity statement you can should see points deducted it just take a little longer to come off your actual points balance. :D chill and dont panic :D

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

So this booking was made ~10 hours ago. Nothing on the activity statement yet.

The most important thing is that it is in your MMB sugest you select seats and get comfy and wait :D

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

I did ask why but was told 32,000 was the minimum even after a supervisor was consulted. Given some of the earlier discussions I have read here, perhaps BNE-CBR-MEL is one of the "indirect" routes where the classic rate does NOT apply, unlike MEL-SYD-ASP? Should I call again to try and get the difference back?

Up to you, but I'm still not convinced by the indirect route theory, especially given the CBR-SYD-BNE booking cited today.

Lots of availability for BNE-MEL direct on the 25th, 24,000 points, 60 SCs before doubling, only $144 copayment.

And I think you'd have a good chance of getting a better price via CBR or SYD if you tried again.

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Guys will let you know how I go when I get the call back, the booking ref is there but no points deducted yet...or $$.....I will be disappointed if does not go through as Mes/Syd/Asp now gone on the dates I wanted

For those that are interested just received a call from Qantas to say my Mel/Syd/Adl/ASP flights are a no go...she stated that only one stop was allowed, so of course I have missed the dates I wanted and for the moment have on hold Mel/Syd/ASP overnight for 48,000 + $378 pp - I say on hold because as my other post in the thread Double Status Credit Offers, on calling Qantas this morning they told me I was not eligble for the double because I had taken up the 1.5 offer !! - they too are going to get back to me as that 1.5 offer that I took up for flights in December expired on October 31st...is anyone else having the same issues ??

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

How did you get that? best I can see is 72k points...?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?

Little drama, my partner rang up to day to get BNE - SYD the first time he got referred back to the website and he rang me saying you can now do it on the website. I went and showed him the difference in cost and he tried the call center again, this time he said the lady knew exactly what she was talking about came up with the right cost value, but then insisted upon the $35 (3000 point) fee? He said shouldn't it be waived and she stated that they've changed the system so that it now enforces the fee? Does this mean that Qantas have got rid of the booking fee being waived? Or is it just poor training again of the staff at the call center? His now booked it and I'm going to send a PM to red roo to see if I can get the fee reversed.

So a few hours after making the booking I realised a DSC was coming up, so I cancelled it. Took till today for it to be processed - CSR said it was done manually by the awards team - but they refunded the ticket points and the fee points that I was incorrectly charged.

Have now made the booking again after registering for the DSC, and she didn't mention anything about a fee this time. No points have been deducted in my activity statement yet so will report later whether she indeed waived the fee correctly.

16k Points + $99 (+$7 cc fee) for a U seat on QF8 BNE-SYD btw.

It doesn’t make sense that your 1.5 offer will still apply for bookings made today. Bookings had to be made by 31 Oct for that offer to apply. I signed up for that October 1.5 offer too but I’m not worried about missing out on the DSC because the DSC offer is the only one I am registered for that is still active.

Well that should be the same for me then too, still waiting on a call back and have dropped a PM to Red Roo for clarification..its all a bit of a debacle really and I will be pretty disappointed if I miss out.
