Even junior QF front line staff do a much better job than most JQ staff. What the hell is going on here.
Lack of training? I am not sure whether this is intentional or due to budget constraints for a LCC.

Well, I have had my first JQ flight last Thursday (18/2/10) and even as a result of what I had read on this forum I was slightly hesitant as to what I would experience I found it only slightly different to DJ. It was only a short leg from SYD to OOL, and flew DJ on the return leg just in case. (80% of my flights are with QF)

I don't know if it was just me, but there seemed to be slightly more leg room on the DJ flight. However, as I said that could just be me. Only carry-on so checked in online, but others on the flight were talking about the length of time it took them to check in with luggage. The FA's came through the a/c selling their products, as they did on the DJ flight home on Sunday so nothing different there.

So, my flights were okay but only flew them for a change and to see if they were significantly different. Given that a friend was one of those stranded in Hawaii some time ago, I don't think I would risk international flights with them.

I was half expecting to have my first negative experience with JQ last week. We (the 2MP clan) had a BNE-NTL-BNE booking made in the middle of last year in JQ's 5th birthday sale, and spent the princely sum of 40c (5c each, each way ). So it seemed a shame not to use it for a cheap getaway to the Hunter Valley for a weekend.

Tried to OLCI at T-28hrs, only to repeatedly be given the error message "Web check in has experienced an error". Error message persisted up until the time to leave the house. Left for BNE early, as I smelt a bit of a rat (thinking that we'd been bumped as it was such a cheap flight).

On arrival, kiosk check in gave a similar error. So the rat was getting smellier. Sure enough, on asking at the ticket desk, our booking was found by the very helpful lady there (on phoning HQ) to be "in the black queue", whatever that means. However, after about 10 mins on the phone to them, it was all cleared up, she checked us in, and 5 mins later we were sitting in the J lounge with a bite and a drink. :D

Flights left and arrived on time, and cost less than a litre of petrol. Who wouldn't be happy with that?!
