So this arvo the property has disappeared from the For Sale pages on Re.com.au; a nice 10% deposit made and all the conveyancing forms have arrived and signed and sent back. I think it’s going to happen! After 2 years of planning and 12 months of slow renovations. I’m in the process of removing all the son’s stuff that got left behind - another skip - why don’t they throw away old shoes and clothes  Im in the process of giving away nice plants to nice neighbours. I took some Rose cuttings of a mother’s day rose a few months ago and those cuttings are doing well. I was going to give one each to the sons but they’ve told me they don’t have time for plants. Oh well. The rooms upstairs are a mess of broken down old furniture from the babies days but it’s an organised mess. The mission bin I used yesterday had been emptied and another round dispatched today.

Re the ‘ dressing for sale ‘ query. Another anecdote. Our nice neighbours across the road have a friend whose house was put up for sale the week before ours at around the same specs in a suburb I grew up in - Hawthorn for those who know - and it hasn’t sold. Same price range etc. Their house hasn’t been dressed by a third party and neighbour said it was full of their old heavy furniture. Which doesn’t impress him. When they saw ours just after visiting their friend they said ours would sell before theirs - the furniture made the difference.

And Hawthorn is a good suburb too. Interesting.

And they’ve already collected the furniture as the Dressed for Sale people are so heavily booked for Spring releases they’ve run out of furniture! I’ve started another collection ready for a skip from all the lads left over stuff and a lot of items just dropped off to the mission.
I've made yet another trip to the council to shed stuff, the op shop,

You want someone to want the house and for potential buyers to be able to imagine themselves living there and I reckon you do whatever helps that illusion /impression become reality - I guess it's "The Vibe".

Anyway I'm delighted for you, you can draw breath and move on. I, on the other hand, have our first open on Saturday. And a to do's list 4 pages long

Did you have someone "style" your home for sale? Was it expensive to do?

Yes we did. We have a large two storey house and we’d moved out a week or so before the sale. It varies from around say $1500 for a smaller place to I’d say, $3500 for a large one. Ours was below that price. It includes everything. They arrive, install the furniture, artwork, and accessories. It is a completely different style to what I’d choose and I’d describe it as not exactly liveable but it works really well with strangers viewing. That price is for 6 weeks and then you pay extra for every additional week. Then when the house is sold they arrive, take everything away again. It took about 2.5 hours to do both ends and that includes getting furniture up and down stairs.

I know the neighbour is going to have a conversation with his friend. They have purchased into an apartment near the sea - we oldies seem to love the sea change hey? And their old clunky furniture will have to go anyway or their place will look very wrong. We gave away all our old heavy furniture over the past few months.

And this is why we moved to the beach for a while. This morning’s view which sadly I have to leave shortly to continue the move.
