Heads up about program changes

Would that be a permanent or temporary exit? At least in the minds of the QFF program members?

Happy wandering

Fred

I will still credit QF and OW flights to QFF in my slow creep to LTG. The status is still worth it, even as a lowly LTS I was upgraded to Main Cabin Extra on a recent AA flight from New York to London. However, the incentive to go out of my way to fly OW has been pretty much eliminated by these "simple, fair" changes. I can get much better bang for my loyalty with other programs and alliances. As for crediting anything other than flights to QFF, other than an EDR swipe, I see no incentive to credit anything to QFF.

It will be interesting to see next year's financial results and whether QFF is still growing (in which case I'm the only one) or it's shrinking (in which case there are lots like me).

...or alternatively just credit the the OW program that suits best.

The reality for me is that Justin at QF made it quite clear he does not want my spend so I will take it elsewhere. Simpler and Fairer as far as I am concerned. I understand and see no need for QF to change their view. It is simply a commercial decision. QF no longer wants to play nicely in OW but others do. ;)

As I am doing. But I do love the fact Qantas is paying for my lounge visits while I end up with an airline who cares more for me...

Bookings made prior to 29 March 2014
For members with a booking made prior to 29 March 2014 in a fare class impacted by these changes for travel on or after 1 July 2014, we will automatically credit your account within a month of flying with the Qantas Points that applied when you made your booking.

I'm tipping another "10x Gift Voucher" long-winded thread will be created in the coming weeks!

Suspect a lot of errors in the manual processing, up to the individual to check

Yes this is quite likely. Manual processing combined with wait of up to a month after the flights would seem to be the right recipe for some fun and games!

I suspect the wording would be more accurate if the words you underlined were changed to "a month after flying".
Travelled CX 1 week ago.My AA points posted 24 hours later.Still waiting on Mrsdrron's QFF points.

I only got 2600 QF pts (not including status bonus) for a SYD-SIN flight (discount economy O fare) yesterday. Should I be expecting a manual adjustment to ~3908 pts which is 1 QF pt per mile flown as the fare was booked pre 29 March?

Interesting... I guess that way of handling things is better than waiting a month for anything to credit at all.

And I wonder if there will also be downward adjustments where applicable...

If that is the case then the implementation has been handled very poorly.

I have lost count of the number of bookings I booked pre 29 March for travel post 01 July. And I have booked more flights since.

This is a disaster.

as you take your post july flights resend yourself the itinerary (nice and handy on the left hand menu now) and see the issue date. If its pre change you know to keep and eye on it and mark it. If its post change then you know not to worry about it.
Thats the best I can offer by way of tracking it now….

There is also still a question as to whether earn will be determined by original booking creation date or the most recent ticketing date in the case of changes.

I queried this on QF's FB page as I voluntarily made changes to a ticket originally issued last year, but for completion of travel post 01JUL. This is the response I received:

We can advise that if existing bookings are voluntarily changed for travel after 1 July then the new point earning rate will apply. Thanks, Pearl

Cool, thanks. In my case that will be a positive.

Well this is Qantas we're talking about, what else would you expect!

Yes I know. They have been quite poor in recent times.

To be fair though Virgin wasn't much better with Sabre changes.

Qantas is tinkering with way too many things at once.

I have the exact opposite information pertaining to a DONE3 booked last year but with voluntary and involuntary changes made since 27/28/29 March.

After originally being told it would be the new rates I persisted with my inquiry and called again a few days later. This time the agent said it would the old rates and would make a note to call me if that information was wrong. Well, it was wrong, apparently. I speak with another agent who says any voluntary changes would be subject to the new rate. Typical of the QF inconsistency I wanted something concrete so I wrote a letter explaining my situation. A week or so later I get a call saying it goes by the date the booking was created which for me is last year. The agent who could was a senior and apologised for the difficulty I'd had getting a straight answer. He made an annotation in my booking and gave his name and location saying to call him if I have any problems.

I fully expect that on 32 days after my flight I will need to contact Qantas to have them correct the incorrect earning. But I will do so well-armed. After such a laborious process I'm confident that I'll be fine and will earn at the old rates.

No chance of official clarification for the record, Red Roo? Booking creation date, or ticketing date?

My trip last year got just over 2400SC. That same trip under the new earn would get around 1800, so provided I plan my flights right, I should still get platinum.
I think I'll work my way to LTG, then move to some other program.

I flew MEL-MQL yesterday and it posted as 800 points instead of the previous 1000. Then today there was an adjustment of 200 extra points as the booking was made prior to Mar 29. Much faster than I thought it would.

Interestingly i made 2 further bookings yesterday in the the booking summary it states that I'll earn a minimum of 2000 points for each booking. I thought it'd be 1600 under the new earn. (These are red-e deals)
