I heard my Manager complaining about the changes when he came in this morning, he is by no means an AFFer, status chaser, etc. just a normal person with a QFF account.
However he does a couple of QF domestic Economy flights a month through work bookings, which doesn't earn enough to keep gold but he supplements the remaining SC's by a yearly O/S trip, and a few domestic leisure flights.

He is now saying "why would I fly QF now for my personal travel/holidays? only reason I fly with them is because I can access a lounge and get priority check-in, I am not willing to spend extra $, fly unnecessary flights to maintain it. I'll just choose whichever airline is cheaper from now on" were his exact words.

If normal non-AFFer type people (not that we are not normal ;) don't like/understand these changes then what chance do QF have of these changes being successful/profitable????

I'd suspect they believe their dedicated customers have no choice and can't take their business elsewhere ala DL and their "Skypesos" program.

. Do they think we are all stupid???

Yes, they do.

They remind me of Arthur Daly in Minder...no, actually Arthur had more integrity. If you are going to screw us over, at least have the decency to tell us the truth, not cover us in marketing BS and then ignore our questions.

Just tried out the new points calculator fr MEL-LHR in Business as it is now categorised and got this

The calculator gives you the correct status bonus, it's just the status level wording that is wrong.

Removing the "Your Last Activity" line from the FF landing page might be a sneaky way to increase breakage :O

Just had a good look at the new partner points and SC earning table. Not happy at all and this will really make me re-evaluate my loyalty to QF. My J booking to LHR in October was meant to earn me 560SCs but it will now only earn me 280! That is a major devaluation. Time to start crediting to another programme.

If you have already made the booking then no change to SCs earn.

I hope they will do an ASX disclosure soon, seeing so their most profitable part of their business will likely be devalued now and the possibility of a profit decrease.......

It looks like existing bookings will get only current points - not SCs - as per the site

"Existing bookings beyond July 2014For members with a booking made prior to 27 March 2014 in a fare class impacted by these changes for travel on or after 1 July 2014, we will automatically credit your account within a month of flying with the Qantas Points that applied when you made your booking."

Sorry if it has been covered somewhere upthread - I am overloaded.

Ok, so I haven't had a chance to fully evaluate how this affects me but as the bulk of my flying is MEL-MQL in Red e-deals it appears I will be worse off from that aspect. I was late to the mASA game and only booked my first JASA's this year (non-status runs), one domestic and 2 Int to attend family weddings, thus it was never really a major part of my earn. My biggest gripe (like many others) is the earn rate with their so called OW partners on sectors that QF doesn't fly.

My biggest concern and confusion is regarding mASA's already booked prior to March 27 and those booked from today till June 30.

Is the general consensus that if you book a mASA between today and June 30 that you will earn both points AND SC at the old rate for travel before June 30 but the new rate after June 30?

Also is anyone else concerned regarding the fact that for mASA's already booked prior to yesterday for travel beyond July 1 that the QF website only states that "your Qantas Points will be credited to your account automatically within 4 weeks" but there is no mention of SC's being credited to the account too???? This would affect my 2 international JASA's later this year!!

Fingers crossed what Red Roo stated is correct. I think I'll have to screen shot it in case I end up on the phone to CS later this year

edit: sorry realised I just asked the same as Legroom. too many posts too quickly!!

I agree it is correct based on the tables however my main point is around all the errors with these changes such as the wording I mean how difficult can that be surely all it would use is a form of a look up table based on actual status. It shows that once again the problem and IT has not been checked reviewed and properly tested before release..

I would agree with you, the broken links on QF.com some 14 hours after the change are very amateurish.

"Overall, the focus is on making it easier for members to understand the number of Qantas Points and Status credits earned by moving from a distance based calculation, to a zonal earn table for both Qantas and Jetstar. There are also some changes to Status credit earn with other partner airlines.

We believe it’s a fairer way to earn points and Status credits as it will now more closely reflect the fare paid, route travelled and airline you choose, versus the miles flown."

My assessment so far is that it is no longer a loyalty program. It should perhaps now be called a "Frequent High Value Spender Program".

Trying to suggest that more flexible fares should be used to earn more points/SC treats us like fools. You pay more to be able to change your mind and if you know your dates and times of travel and do not need flexibility you are less valuable to QF and are penalised for providing QF with a firm commitment to a date and time.

I have maintained my loyalty to QF and they have not reciprocated. As much as it it pains me to do so I will be moving my domestic spend to VA and looking closely at my future international spend as well.

"Not happy Jan"

Yep very poor form QF very poor. I hope they are all huddled in a crisis room now working out how they can change it back, after ruining their golden goose overnight!

Sell Qantas stock and vote with your dollar: don't fly with them until they treat people better. Their staff, passengers, shareholders and now Loyal frequent flyers are all dissatisfied with their offer. A stupid management decision at a time when competition is fierce and sales are falling.
