Hi,

I need some assistance with finding 1 maybe 2 J rtn reward fights from SYD-SFO or LAS for Sep 2017 for 1-1.5 weeks. This is for the wife and I may tag along if there's a seat. I've got 300K Qantas, 250K Velocity and 180K KF and 100K AMEX MR. I would prefer a direct flight (i.e. not via Asia if possible). Dates for Sep are flexible but prefer in the first part of the month. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I can find the occasional seat outbound via QF but coming back via AA (would prefer another airline). Virgin seems to have nothing at all. I havne't checked KF but I assume it'll need to be routed via Singapore (whic I would prefer not to)

Cheers

Good luck is all I can say.

QF flights at that level are very few and far between unless you have status.

I know that you've said that you would prefer a direct flight, but I strongly recommend you consider Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong. You will have a much better chance of getting a flight + the taxes are A LOT cheaper.

Could always do 2 x J VA SYD-BNE-LAX on 5 September and 2 x J LAX-SYD on AA using Qantas points on 17th or 18th September..I guess inbound is same as what you have seen

Keep an eye on the return and change it if a better option came up ?

The other is outbound 2 x J on VA SYD-BNE-LAX on 5 September for +/- 191,000 Velocity points

Inbound 2 x J on SQ LAX -SIN - SYD on 13 September +/- 170,000 KF miles

I agree via HKG is the way to go on CX with plenty of seats and then direct to numerous USA ports, failing that try via NAN.

Any updates on this noviceFF?

I'd be very interested to hear how it turns out for you.
