Are you possibly thinking of the Hertz excess on unsealed roads in Tassie, which is $9,900? (+ 3.5% admin fee + airport surcharge, of course!)

I think you've got it, from my memory. 5500+2200 + 3.5% = just under 8k$ + airport % ... I thought it ended up as circa 9-10K for single vehicle accidents... its less for accidents involving other vehicles as you say above. My insurance tops out at 6K$ so its pretty short for a case of SVA.

It's definitely circa $9-10K for single vehicle accidents, but the exact figure of $9,900 relates to the Tassie unsealed road excess.
