Had a car hire and aimed to take it out for extra 2 hrs but due to very very delayed landing hours later never picked the car up at 0800 but maybe 1pm?
But we still got charged an extra 2hrs? Original booking was from 8am out and return 10am back the next day (always thought you had 1-2hrs grace period)

Anyway we never actually used those 2hrs. Is that normal to charge by what you book rather than what you use? (I guess the car is still out of action if you've booked it but just asking as wondering whether to question it)

This has happened to me being late to pick up a rental, in big cities it was noted on the agreement what time the actual pick up was!

In Regional centres its frequently is not like this.

I would dispute the extra charge and then if it's unsuccessful dispute the CC charge directly.

Thanks I've replied to the invoice email and will see what they come back with.

It has happened to me previously - I emailed customer support with the details and they refunded the disputed amount no problem. Hertz are generally quite slow to respond to any queries though.

Calling worked better when I had to contact them. They will give you a case number which you can use to follow up.
