Hi swanning_it. if your saving for the european adventure why don't you use points and points to maximise your HH points??
I normally do that, but with a 4x KrisFlyer promo on at the moment, coupled with my intent to fly SQ suites over there, it seemed like a good idea to do points and miles for the promo period. I need quite a few more KF/VFF points but I have about 3/4 million HH points so that also swayed my decision! :p I'll book as many nights as I can using P+P with Hilton as I've seen some pretty spectacular P+P rates!

Lucky I stumbled on this thread. Checking my points, I see that zero posted for a stay at HBNE in July.
I have been chasing them since 21 October
Hilton are somewhat slow in following up.

That seems to be the inconsistency, Buzz. Some report excellent correction time frames, but mine have basically all been protracted and in a couple of instances, ignored.

very inconsistent. In the last 2years, have had any queries 'fixed' with in a week

3 or 4 million, or .75 million? I fthe former, you should take a month off to spend on a beach in Rangali ;)

I wouldn't mind 3-4 mill......if you have any that are weighing you down too much! ;)

No, I meant three quarter, ie 0.75 mill!

I'm on a similar points hoarding adventure to you. Saving up for a RTW combining it with a QFF 420K F Award in about 3 years. Currently have 1.2M which has built up since the last big devaluation where I spent all my points on NY at Times Square :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but my hopes are not raised based on previous experience. I've submitted the claim, attached the invoice, calculated it all for them and used the exchange rate they used at the time, explained about the added day and the fact the missing points tally exactly with the merged amounts, so hopefully it will be an easy exercise of them just checking my figures and posting the points!

Well much to my surprise, I got into work this morning to find an email from Hilton telling me they were pleased to advise that my points had been posted.

You little beaut, I thought to myself.......until I read further and all they were telling me was that the two stays were merged and the points were all included under the second stay.....case closed, no more points awarded! I KNOW ABOUT THE MERGED ACCOUNT YOU BOZOS. I TOLD YOU THAT IN MY EMAIL. (Capitalised in frustration. I didn't write that in the email ;))

So I've replied and suggested to them they re-read my email and if they're at all confused, just look at the base points for a start, without confusing with the promo points. I even worked it out for them. This is what I wrote......
Total spend (excluding tax) - AU$2330.10 x 0.72043 (exchange rate of the day) = US$1678.67 Total Base Points – US$ x 10 = 16786
Now look at what was credited tomy account – 13181
I still live in hope, but I'm not confident of a speedy resolution!

I get this occasionally and it is crazy frustrating. They have some real morons working in that centre. Luckily, it goes both ways and you will often get points to which you weren't entitled because of their stuff ups.

I just take the good with the bad and try to never lose my cool or manners. I'm thinking of calling them for an issue soon, but it's only 60k points and I'm wondering if it's worth the stress :(

60K?? Worth it in my book! ;)

It's a lot of hassle and I'm not sure if it will work. I might email the hotel directly but their English can be a bit hit and miss.

You have me intrigued, but for what it's worth, I've found contacting the hotel directly about missing points is a fruitless exercise.

Basically have 5 nights award in niseko.
No free base room left so cannot do this myself.
Want to do 2 nights, then checkout for 2 nights, and then return for 1 night.

I.e. Split the booking up into 2 reservations and refund what would end up being 1 nights accom (because of the 5 for 4 awards), or 60k points.

If it was missing points I would hound them no end, but this is harder. Diamond desk won't do it via email. I'll email the hotel and see how that goes

Now what's that quip in the movie series "Taken"?

Oh yes, I remember......Good luck!

I was HH Diamond for a few years and never felt like I got any special treatment apart from a comp bottle of wine and EL access

I get amazing treatment, and EL access is part of that. It's quite a big thing really, and costs actual money, as opposed to a fruit plate or a card.

i feel the same way. When I book 2 rooms as a diamond and I can take my sister and her hubby(no Hilton status) into the EL in Venice, I feel i'm getting great value

I received another email today....a sincere apology from the "diamond coordinator" this time rather than either of the two "email coordinators" previously. (I must admit, the Hilton shuffle annoys me. Surely one person should be responsible for sorting out their own mess rather than a different person every time, which seems to be the case).

Points and miles now credited and surprisingly, the delay this time is measured in days, rather than months like previously! :) So I'm happy, but I wish they'd sort their system so it doesn't fail like that. Now to update the all important spread sheet!
