Generally no soft landing. However, there are a some sporadic reports of this happening - I still would not count on it.

Have we worked out yet how long it would take to get the complimentary HH Diamond status matched?

If I make a booking as a Hilton Nobody for a stay in October and I have Hilton Diamond by then do I get all the benefits even though I booked now?

no movement on my account as yet - on a related topic I emailed HHonors in Sydney about a reservation, they dealt with that and replied to a second question I had about the comp status saying they couldn't help as that was a different department. Didn't say which department could help though...

I assume timing of this offer would mean an expiry date of 03/13? I wonder if they would do the match to existing gold HHonors members, thereby extending expiry date by 12 months, for me meaning I don't have to find 5 more stays this year to retain gold.

The match asks for your existing HH account details in the DJ website?

Yes.

Just make sure that your status shows on the Hilton web site.

Personally I would wait until it was needed.

The only reason is that I may not re-qualify VA Gold next year and I do not know whether Hilton Gold expiry will tie up with my new VA Gold expiry date. I am currently on Hilton Silver (which really is nothing anyway).

+1 to this. HHonors work on calendar years, I cannot believe they will re-work their IT systems to consider the airline status of their members.

Hmm, good corporate rates at the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf. This is proving to be quite a fruitful few months - looking like I'll be able to qualify for SPG Platinum (based on nights, no promos), Hyatt Diamond (via fast track) and Hilton Diamond (through VA promo and 4 stays).

Presume it's a pretty nice hotel (being new etc..)?

I haven't heard anything from HHonors but just logged in and I seem to have been upgraded to Diamond already. Logged the request probably 3-4 weeks ago.

Yup! Nice rooms, awesome lounge .. location is the main problem, but if you're doing something at Jeff's Shed the location isn't an issue.

This may seem a stupid question but whats the deal with corporate rates? I remember hearing that even RACV can give you some discounts etc, is this true?

I've stayed at HSW 3 times and been impressed each time, actually got upgraded from a standard room to a corner suite last time... this is a lowly base member of HHonours.
