HHonors Gold/Diamond for Velocity Gold/Plat

Well, I pulled the trigger on MrsDeKa's Diamond. 4 stays should be easy. I'll report back when it becomes active.

MrsDeKa's was activated on 2 Jan and nothing yet. Follow up to Diamond team made.

Turns out it was activated in less than 2 weeks, but the emails were never received.

My wife's Diamond playing cards arrived today. What a soppy piece of tripe the written content is!

Hurrah. Something has updated in my Velocity A/C and I now have "Complimentary Partner membership Accommodation: IHG Rewards Club or Hilton HHonors™" back as an option. Will wait a few weeks to pull the trigger - I have 1 night booked at Hilton BNE on 14 April so juts need to be golden by then.

I probably wouldn't wait. The time to action it is so variable, and whether you apply now or in a few weeks, you still have it until March 2016 anyway.

Hi everyone,
Having combed through most of this 45-page thread can I please check something with you all. Hopefully I have understood this correctly.
If I opt-in to the Hilton Diamond Elite offer given to Velocity Platinum members today (March 6, 2014) and manage the four stays in the first six months requirement, I will have Diamond Elite status for the rest of 2014, all of 2015 and until March 31 2016. Is this correct?

By way of background, I am currently Hilton Gold who will fall back to Blue at March 31, 2014.

Hope you all can help. Thank you.

I phone HHonors and they said I had diamond status until early 2016 without any mention of minimum stays. I haven't stayed any nights since I got my status upgraded through VA.

The T&C's state 4 stays in the first 6 months.

There is one anecdote here of such status being revoked after 0 stays in the required period.

What's the latest turnaround time on this upgrade? I did mine last year and took 2 weeks. Wife's now 4 weeks and waiting. Fired off an email to HH and VFF to check.

I got the email to say my application will be processed on 28/02 still waiting..

Just wondering if anyone had some advice for how to proceed further with this problem.
i applied for hhonors diamond membership on March 9 and on March 21 got an email saying "congratulations you are diamond".
however, my honors membership status had not changed when I logged in so after a few days I emailed hilton, who said "It seems that Velocity Frequent Flyer has not sent over your Diamond upgrade information to your Hilton HHonors account at this time."
i then waited until the 20 business day had passed before I emailed the platinum desk at velocity and included the email from hhonors. Their response was particularly underwhelming, essentially saying they cannot help and asked me to contact hilton.
Does anybody have a similar experience? If so, any advise on how it was resolved would be much appreciated.

cheers.

Similar problem here, and I started a new thread about it called "Problems getting Diamond status (via VA WP) to stick?". Since then, they've responded to my follow-up e-mail pointing out that the membership is complementary (via VA WP) and not dependent on nights / stays, but only to say that the Diamond card will arrive in 6 - 8 weeks from the date of the original status upgrade confirmation. Online status is still Gold, so I'll have to write back to request (for the third time) that they change it ahead of a 3-night stay in Cairns at the end of the month. Why theycan't sort things out first time is a mystery

A quick update: the latest reply from HHonors says "As this upgrade was given by Velocity, we are unable to ensure that the upgrade will come through before
your stay in late April. Per the terms and conditions given by Velocity,"Your new Diamond status membership materials will arrive by mail, within 6-8 weeks"

How difficult can it be? HHonors have e-mailed me to say that the Diamond card etc. is on its way (i.e. the VA WP-related upgrade is confirmed) and all I want is my online status to match it rather than being resolutely stuck at Gold..... Presumably it must change over at some point, and unless they can psychically tell when the Diamond card lands on my doormat, why doesn't it switch over when the card is posted? Time for e-mail number 4.....

Yeah I'm having the same problem. I applied via velocity 28/02/14 received the email it had been completed 22/03/14 however it did not reflect on my account. Called last week and was told they had to raise a case and wait a week. Just checked my account now and it says I am gold.. how they came up with gold I have no idea as I don't have enough stays for gold and I am VFF plat.

This is becoming frustrating, as writing above I decided to call, they said when I spoke to them they said I am a virgin atlantic gold member, where the last person I spoke to got that from I have no idea. As I specifically said Virgin Aus Platinum and I wanted Diamond hhonors. The person on the phone was adamant the last person I spoke to got it correct and I am supposed to be with gold. After pushing harder they said for me to become platinum I was given gold and need to complete 4 stays before I would be awarded platinum. After pushing even harder they finally caved and said they would raise another case and I have to wait another week to become platinum. I hope they sort it out in time as I have a stay (not this weekend) next weekend.

I know its a "benefit" not a privilege but it still is frustrating been told you can get one thing, but it being so hard to get.

You don't mention whether you are applying for the HH benefit for the first time, of if you have previously activated the benefit as a Gold and now trying again as WP?

I was previously HH diamond using the VA WP benefit. Then I dropped to VA SG and then to HH Silver. So on March 19 I opted in to HH gold via my Velocity account. Haven't heard anything back yet.

When I rang Velocity to enquire about this they put me through to HH. The HH CSA and I were both quite surprised to find ourselves speaking to each other. She was very helpful and even went as far as trying to find the right promo code for Velocity Gold so she could update my account, but she couldn't find it.

I suspect that if we could find out the actual promo codes you would have a good chance of calling HH and having a CSA put the code in for you.

Perhaps the problem is that HH are selecting Virgin Atlantic as the partner, and from what I can see, their highest tier is Gold?????

For what it's worth in my case I sent emails to both HH and VFf as after 4 weeks I heard nothing. Each said the other was the problem. VFf said they'd done wha they needed to do, but HH kept replying they haven't received anything. Finally after a few emails over a week, VFF sorted it out. On day 7 I got two emails in a day from VFf agent who sorted it out, and then I got an email from HH confirming it was done.

I had an issue opting into HH Diamond, after previously having opted in to HH Gold. The VFF rep on here sorted it all out for me.

It has been very helpful to hear everyone's stories and I thought I would add another data point to the conversation.

Ron the Hilton Honors representative on the phone said while Hilton had indeed sent me an email confirming my upgrade to Diamond, Virgin Australia Velocity had not sent through the confirmation code (or promo code) to activate the Diamond status on my Hilton Honors account. He suggested I reach out to Virgin Australia Velocity and get them to send the appropriate code to Hilton and that would sort out the whole situation.
So I rang Velocity and the person on the phone was not familiar with the promo code situation, but said she would email their internal people who handle this and also Hilton. She said give it a week, but given her lack of familiarity with the and the topic I am less than optimistic.
It has been a pretty disappointing experience really.

This is crazy. I'm on the phone to my Hilton friend literally spelling out V-E-L-O-C-I-T-Y. They have no idea.

I've then very politely told them to Google it. Then I got hung up on.

Called back and second agent didn't treat me like a liar which is nice.

They say they can't see anything from VA about it. Hmmm.
