HHonors Gold/Diamond for Velocity Gold/Plat

That would be unusual. DeKas gold card was pre-existing and normally wouldn't trigger another card until end of March. According to the other part of DeKas post (see quote below), another SM was applied for on 1 Jan 2014, which I'm assuming is more likely the new one that has turned up????? If so, our logic would have it expiring end of March 2016.

Deka was referring to his (presumably non HHonors statused) wife in post #380.

In post #397 Deka was referring to his own membership - must be a card for renewal/new year or maybe he had not previously received one with his current status?

May be a bit confusing. I had thought that pulling the trigger in January was in relation to his wife's offer. Maybe not.

She has no HH status so January it is! In the mean time I'll try to re qualify gold but with the bar lifted this year I don't know if I will.

Well, I pulled the trigger on MrsDeKa's Diamond. 4 stays should be easy. I'll report back when it becomes active.

No new status match for me. I applied for this one in early 2013 (Feb?). I got close to the Base Points threshold to renew Gold, but not close enough.

The other status match on 2 January was for my wife.

Yes, new card was mine. Sorry for the confusion everyone.
My wife's Diamond card should arrive soon we hope. Yes, she is VA Plat (although I am VA Gold and QF Gold).

Anyone know how long it takes HH to get in touch with you once you've requested through Velocity? I want to book a London Hilton in a couple of weeks, but should probably wait until my Gold comes through?

It will take approx 4-6 weeks to arrive. Your pack is generated in the USA (hence the timeframe). Its certainly not as "polished and professional" as the VA Gold Card pack - but great benefits to be had with the HHonours. Just a hint to book on the Hilton website directly....(not your Wotif/Expedia sites) to receive the bonuses.

Yeah, I did mine on 5th of Jan and it came over the last weekend. I already had a HH number though.

Thanks. I'm contemplating a trip to KL and Singapore in late-April so I should be able to knock at least three of the four over. Given most of my travel is work-related and Hilton isn't on our preferred hotel listing it's highly unlikely I'll retain it after 03/2016 but I'm looking forward to utilising the bennies on leisure travel over the next couple of years.

If I am currently VA gold and if I apply for Gold HHonors what happens if I was to upgrade to VA plat during the Gold HHonors term, can I request to be upgraded to HH plat or will I be stuck with gold?

You get another bite and can upgrade, depending on timing though you may want to hold out pulling the trigger.

Well I have a few flights booked within the next two weeks with the double SC which will put me over the line for plat, trying to decide if I should upgrade to HH gold now or wait the 2-4 weeks until I am plat and sign up then.

Look at the IHG Rewards club as an option as Gold then HH for when you hit WP, there are a lot of places where IHG feature and Hilton don't, as well as vice versa, while the rewards with IHG are not as good, better than nothing re status benefits.

Keep in mind that Gold is for 2 (calendar) years no matter what. Diamond is for 6 months only, unless you do 4 stays in those 6 months.

Its a one hit thing per status level, you get new options as you advance.

Certainly - I did this last year; as a VA SG I selected the IHG Gold benefit early on and then after I changed Velocity Status to WP,was able to select the HH Diamond benefit.

IHG gold gives complimentary internet at the very least so it has been worth it.
