A week to 10 days for mine

Fantastic - I'm hoping that I might be able to avail myself of a Diamond status upgrade in about 18 months from now! Just doing the long term planning.

Yes - can't remember exactly how long it took to arrive ...

... but I did receive a silver card about three weeks after being downgraded on April 1st.

I invoked the Diamond sometime around April 4th.

OK, I applied in early April 2012 after dropping to Silver.

Nine days later my new Diamond Status showed up online.

Two weeks after dropping to Silver an new Silver card arrived - by this time I was already back at Diamond.

A new diamond card (with 2014 Expiry) arrived the first week in May:

Well, that's not too bad if you applied at the beginning of this month.

On another note, my silvery 'diamond' card arrived late last week - Mar'14.

Reset has occured - it was a bit of a shock to see silver status upon logging on after 7 years Gold/Diamond.

No email, just Silver upon logging on (just the 11 stays last year).

Request for DJ comp. Diamond now sent - hopefully it come through by April 27th ...

I fired up my Award Wallet account and asked for a bulk update - amongst the result came back still HHonors Diamond. Well, that's what it said before the update in any case ... but I noticed the point level was rather contemporary.

So I check my HHonors account directly and, indeed, my upgrade has come through. :mrgreen:

As posted above it took 9 days for my comp to show up on line.

I still have not receive an email from HHonors confirming - although I did receive a Silver Card in the post last week.

Thank you - this is going to be critical to my plans for the new Hilton HHonors card - I'm planning to set my anniversary for just on or after 1st April, and then spend up big in the year prior to get Diamond for two years April 201x to 30 March 2 years later. If it's a rapid process for reupgrading to Diamond, then dropping to Gold for a few days and then being Diamond from about mid-April for the next two years is not a bad deal.

Would you mind sharing the strategy to be used for this? It would require some fairly precise knowledge of the time frame from application submission to actual approval I guess (in case you ended up with the last days of March).

no strategies of special note.

If you don't requalify a level in a calendar year you drop back on April 1 the next year. (unless qualifying otherwise January-march)

If you subsequently qualify after that you get it for the remainder of that year, the next year and the first three months of the following year.

There have been anecdotes of AFFers activating the SM between 1 Jan and 31 Mar and still gaining the additional year. HH has told me that the qualification period (including SMs) are definitely 1 Jan-31 Dec and the additional 3 month "grace" period is simply because HH do the status reviews manually and need that amount of time to work through each and every account so theoretically, activating the SM anytime will give the recipient that matched status for the whole of that year, the whole of the following year and then a further 3 months the year after the following year.

IIRC, the concept that one has to wait until after 31 Mar was more assumption rather than fact (has there been any anecdotes of someone not gaining the extra year simply because they activated in the first 3 months of the year?), but as all wise FFers know.........better to err on the side of caution to be sure!

In my case it was very simple.

I was BIB Diamond and simply wanted my status to downgrade prior to invoking the DJ WP Diamond benefit.

There is at least one anecdote I have seen where a January invocation with no prior status resulted in the benefit for > 24 months.

If this is, the case, then my anniversary date of 5th January will do me quite nicely, I'll continue to use the HHonors card every second year to hit the Diamond qualification requirement. What's more, the qualification for Diamond will be in place before the older qualification runs out - so I'll be perpetual Diamond without the hassle of mattress runs!

Just got an email back from Diamond Desk.

Any requalification (no matter how it was achieved) is for the remainder of that calendar year and into the next. This is excellent news. No one needs to wait until 1 April to do requalification.

Is it worthwhile sacrificing 40,000 points that could be used on flying for Hhonors points instead?

For someone like me earning ~40,000 Amex MR points/pa that sacrifice at facevalue does not appear worth it.

Horses for courses, I think. For you it wouldn't be, for me, it would. It's 40,000 points every two years. The other thing is that this isn't affecting my Amex MR spend - it's only going to affect my Citibank Visa spend (which is my current Visa card). Given that's amassing points which will go towards Krisflyer at some point in the future I won't miss them all that much.

I did mine in Sept and it took about 2 weeks to hear from Hilton. After that, it was processed and works flawlessly. I've been pretty impressed with HH Diamond to be honest.

my experience was:

Only remembered to sign up for the Diamond upgrade on 20th May.

Just checked my Hilton account to see if the pending transaction for Hilton Perth has been posted (not yet) but my account does show :

Pity that it didn't show that prior to the 4 night stay, the bonus points could have been really worth the change. They also did not contact me, but who cares - looking out for the membership pack to arrive.

Woo hoo, got my Diamond card in the mail (exp 3/15) along with a pack of cards and instructions for some card games - the kids will love them

Bu contrast to the way HHonors process their uplifts, I have today received a confirmatory email from Hertz that I am Presidents Circle. So both were done on 20 May, Hilton takes 5-10 days, Hertz took 2 months. Go figure :shock:...

Hilton are by far superior to Hertz - was 10 days to see change online and then card was received 5 weeks later.

I still haven't got my second requested PresCircle card (re-ordered 30th October and advised 3-4 weeks).

I know this has been covered numerous times but I'm not quite clear. My wife wants to activate HH Diamond from Velocity. She is Plat until at least this time next year.

Should she activate after Jan 2014 or after April 2014 to have HH Diamond for the longest period? She doesn't need Diamond during 2013.

If she had no HH status then registering any time from next January should work for 2015.

So, January has come around.. shall I pull the trigger today, or wait a day or two so it's definitely well into January in the US.

On another note, I just noticed my own HHonors Gold card (which I received sometime early 2013, but I'm not exactly sure when) says it expires in March 2015. That means it has nearly two full years of life - is that normal?
