Well, that isn't exactly what I wanted to say.

For example, I didn't get a second year of HH Diamond after requalifying for VA WP. My partner did however get a new option to get HH Gold after being demoted from WP to SG.

It has always been a once off benefit on attaining a level, not retaining a level, this is clear in the terms and conditions. Attaining a level also means soft landing.

Thare has also been a report or two to suggest even changing levels may not invoke another SM even though I concur that the T&Cs do read that way and most reported experiences tend to confirm that.

Given I had a somewhat unusual SM to begin with and the fact I was close to BIB requal anyway, I personally decided not to risk losing diamond due to a few stays short. Hence the term "mattress running", which up until I starting perusing AFF, would have indicated to me a bunch a drunken uni students hitting the town at end of year celebrations

When I was Velocity Gold I was able to claim the Gold benefit.

When I went up to Platinum I was able to claim to Diamond benefit.

When I dropped back to Gold the Gold benefit was available to me again (although I'm still Diamond so haven't tried to use it).

I experienced similar - HOWEVER - since then there are reports upthread and I have been told that this has changed and it now is as I posted in #345.

I too have a diamond SM waiting to use, but due to a few isolated reports, I decided not to rely 100% on that working (as I've had a SM previously). Chances are, it would work, but I don't want to get to Apr 2014, pull the pin on it and find it rejected and end up with Gold going into Rangali (where it seems even diamonds are not to expect anything in the way of room upgrades, but are in with a remote chance....not so for gold I'd assume). I'd still be very interested to hear reports from others but I might try using my Plat SM to renew Plat with IHG instead (if it works).

The reports are not so much as "pulling the pin" and "being rejected", it's more the "pin can't be pulled" in the first place as it is not offered.

I suspect that if the offer is currently appearing it will continue to do so until you indeed "pull the pin" (or, god forbid, Velocity remove the benefit altogether).

I don't like your chances, but keep an eye on your HH on-line account. As soon as it shows there, you'll get the benefits rather than having to wait for a card. In reality, the card is essentially not needed except to know your expiry date (which in your case should be Mar 2015).

Based on stays earned this year, your 2014 tier would be Blue.

To maintain Gold status in 2014, you need 18 more stays.

Do I need to maintain some sort of minimum? 4 stays? I do not remember what the account was showing when I was Diamond. Perhaps that is a standard expiry date.

Thats normal marketing, chances are your gold is good for another year.

I opted in for Diamond in April Last Year, (immediately after my BiB Diamond expired). I am still Diamond until end of March 2014 (without the 28 stays[now 30] or 100k base points [now 120k] in 2012).

I saw the Diamond version of what you are seeing as Gold from April through December last year.

Yes - can't remember exactly how long it took to arrive ...

... but I did receive a silver card about three weeks after being downgraded on April 1st.

I invoked the Diamond sometime around April 4th.
