HHonors Gold/Diamond for Velocity Gold/Plat

Bu contrast to the way HHonors process their uplifts, I have today received a confirmatory email from Hertz that I am Presidents Circle. So both were done on 20 May, Hilton takes 5-10 days, Hertz took 2 months. Go figure :shock:...

Doesn't bode well for me... I opted in to Europcar two days ago, first rental next tuesday. Have emailed Nicole@europcar (Not sure if that's still the contact) to see if it will hurry things up...

Just checking my inbox I got confirmation of selection on 9th Jan from Velocity and status upgrade email from Hilton on the 18th Jan.

Thanks for all the info! It all seems very ad hoc, which of course happens. I ended up receiving the Hertz confirmation super quickly which is good for this trip tonight, but nothing from HHonors yet. I think my application is in that weird nether region, Velocity said it had gone to Hilton, Hilton said it was still with Velocity. Oh well. See how it goes. Thanks all!

If you're wondering which one to pick then ihg status match ihg platinum to Hilton gold so you can actually get a higher level this way.

Nicole is still the contact at Europcar. Emailed her on the 17/07 to request she please process my application to move up to Elite (requested through Velocity on 21/05 but haven't needed it until now). She actioned this quite quickly - approx 2 days. I also had to contact her previously to process status match to Executive as it was well outside the processing timeframe. Doesn't appear Europcar are good at meeting service timelines.

However, Hilton have always been very quick and yes I too received my playing cards with my Diamond card recently....

Happy to report back that I had an email from Nicole this morning and she has processed the upgrade to Privilege Elite, 2 minutes later I had placed my first Europcar booking!

I opted-in with Hilton around 2 weeks ago, haven't heard anything as of yet.

I have done it three times now, last one was an email with a link to book, collect Friday back Monday, no charge, had an Audi A1.

Good luck with that. Was told I couldn't use it because I had booked something other than an I20 (CDAR) evidently the I20 3-door is different. Talk about nit pick. Also, didn't meet the conditions due to the term of the booking, booked from Thursday and they couldn't just credit the weekend. Was expected to cancel and do a completely separate rental for one night. Not worth the hassle. Didn't get to use last years and probably won't use this years now. Not much of a benefit.

• Three (3) day hire – One free weekend rental per year for three (3) days, weekend rental must include a Saturday night.
• CDAR only – Compact car similar to a Hyundai I20 (Vehicle type cannot be changed).
• Valid AU & NZ
• Rental includes base rental charges only, so unfortunately does not include any additional extras i.e. reduced damage liability, GPS, baby seats etc.
• If a customer requires the vehicle for an extended period this will have to be a separate rental, whereby all the taxes and surcharges apply.
• Bookings cannot be made through Central Reservations or the Website.

i think it's the review date, with Hilton you won't lose anything doing it early so long as its after April.

Thanks. I hedged my bets and took up the offer. Don't really care about H diamond (yes I did just say that!) But my PC plat still has another few months to run so the wrong time to choose that. And chance of being comped plat is very low.

I was in Melbourne Tuesday night and I stayed at Hilton on the park as SouthWharf was just $450+ per night... I booked an exec room, got a relaxation suite upgrade. However I will say, I would prefer an entry deluxe room at HSW then Hilton on the park any day of the week. That hotel needs an update

Actually I'm happy to report back I've successfully claimed it - I booked a Friday-Monday and yes I accepted the I20. Maybe persevere on this one? I emailed Nicole who I understand handles all of the Privilege enquires, she was very helpful actually.

Well done. I think mine will be wasted again this year. It is rare I would need one just those three nights. And to use it to reduce the cost of a longer rental means returning to the airport in the middle of a trip because it has to be a separate rental is ridiculous.

I know this has been covered numerous times but I'm not quite clear. My wife wants to activate HH Diamond from Velocity. She is Plat until at least this time next year.

Should she activate after Jan 2014 or after April 2014 to have HH Diamond for the longest period? She doesn't need Diamond during 2013.

I subscribe to the KISS principle. Was Diamond and waited until that expired after end of March (dropped to Silver) before enacting my Diamond VA benefit.

So gold should be ok.

It is conceivable that if you were already Diamond when activating, you would only get it for the current year (based on Diamond "requalification" rather than "upgrade").

I was comped Gold thru Velocity in January 2013. I then upgraded it to Diamond (via Platinum VFF) in July 2013. I just received a Diamond HH card the other day with Validity to March 2015. Man, those cards are fugly!
