I managed HHD off my own bat this year (first time) but it did take a lot of changing hotels every night... not sure it was worth it, but none-the-less, it is done now so I shall enjoy the fruits of my labour and some upcoming multiple 2 night stays in ONE hotel :mrgreen:

i think it's the review date, with Hilton you won't lose anything doing it early so long as its after April.

I'm now in review period and can still opt into other offers. So does seem to hang around for a while.

My expiry date is March 31 next year ( I gained it last year so have had about 18 months) A stupid question, but come 1 April do I drop back to the lowest level or do they have a stepped program ie would go back to Silver. Or are we lucky enough to have it for the whole year as that is how the normal program runs?

Did you use your VA Gold status to upgrade to HH Gold this year? If not, then use it after 1 April 14 for another 21 months of Gold

Back to my orginal post - I have already used the VA to get the gold in the first place. What I am really interested to know if anyone has experience about what happes after the cutoff date ( in my case 31 March) normally status is on a calendar year basis. I will be doing a heap of travel in June and July but would broaden my options if I was not HH Gold

The year for HH earning is 1 Jan - 31 Dec and the membership year is 1 Apr - 31 Mar. If you do not re-qualify by stays, VA, HH Macquarie CC, Milepoint etc then you will drop to HH Blue. ie as Danger pointed out there are no soft landings.

Do you know if you buy the Milepoint membership, can you pull the trigger on HH membership later? I am sure most here wouldn't want it to start until January...

I can confirm that a new SG> HH Gold offer was available following a WP>SG demotion as recently as a few weeks ago. Took a few weeks after the change of status for the option to become available online, though.

Well, that isn't exactly what I wanted to say.

For example, I didn't get a second year of HH Diamond after requalifying for VA WP. My partner did however get a new option to get HH Gold after being demoted from WP to SG.
