Hi! As my travel increases, I refer to this forum more frequently - usually my questions have already been asked and answered - thanks!

Welcome risky,

Why don't you let us know a little about who you like to fly, thoughts on different airlines. the great DJ/QF debate :) Weigh in. Flaming is rare here! :) (And if it does happen. It is quickly dealt with!)

My Choice magazine arrived today and there was an article on Frequent Flyer schemes - and Australian Frequent Flyer featured prominently!

It seems to me that the quality of Qantas is gradually eroding so that it moves closer to the low-cost carriers like Jetstar. And unfortunately, that is nothing to be proud of: of 3 trips on Jetstar in the last 12 months (all to the Gold Coast), Jetstar didn't exactly do themselves any favours:
  • Trip 1: (first ever on Jetstar) - they lost my bag
  • Trip 2: two hour delay
  • Trip 3: delay, delay, cancel (6hour delay and only because I booked over the phone with Virgin whilst standing in the queue)
At least Virgin did a bit better: they had my FF number and gave me food on the flight (not sure why; my colleague booked at the same time on the same fare and got nothing) - but still no FF points...at least my bag turned up!

So even though Qantas may not be what it was, at least it is consistent. Anyway, I don't really fly enough to be able to afford to spread my FF points around.

Hi Risky

Welcome to AFF

You post mentions you have had problems with J* yet it's QANTAS fault... How does that work? J* is an independent subsidiary of QANTAS and would have no bearing on you unfortunate situation of delays.
It's like buying a new Audi, having engine problems and blaming Volkswagen.

Welcome to AFF by the way.

Welcome to AFF risky.

I'd like to see that Choice article - I'm an online subscriber but it hasn't appeared there yet.

Where did he/she say that?

The article was posted on their website today - see Frequent Flyer review - CHOICE

(great article, but pity they got the link to AFF wrong! :( )

Welcome - I tend to agree with sticking with one carrier & their partners. It maximised my FF account.
