HI Melbourne Airport

Ironically my wife and I always stay there before flying out of Melbourne.
We have a 2 hour trip to the airport so we are paranoid about getting to the airport in time in the morning with traffic etc.
Our experience has always been the rooms are consistent and fair value, the food is good, service has always been good and best of all we like to STAY,PARK & GO option to leave our car for up to 14 days.
Just had a trip to Darwin for a week, cost $ 240 with 7 days parking...that's not bad value IMHO.
I think IHG has a very good loyalty program that is very easy to earn plenty of bonus points on as well..
OR......maybe I am easily pleased
Almost forgot the shuttle transfer over to the terminal and pick up on return

Stayed at this HI and staff were lovely. No cold room issues and this was winter.

Stayed at park Royal which was infinitely nicer but I was slightly peeved at myself as it was expensive and I was there literally hours (to sleep) before flying out and was thinking it wasn't the best use of money. Maybe I should have gone to ibis.

And if in town then you have to get up earlier and I like my sleep!

I have to admit I don't really tolerate the cold well, not sure what I would have done in your shoes.

Could have pulled a jumper and woolly socks out of the bag ??

I know it is not the best but the park stay and go rates can be half decent, it is relatively inexpensive and it is convenient.

Also whoever they actually think I am seems to get some nice upgrades to the eighth floor. :p
Their standard parking is now $40 a night and this was an 8th floor UG room that didn't have heating!

When heading to SEA I don't think that was an option.

The OP was travelling from home to the airport, and then to KUL the next day.
Correct.

Home to the airport then KL with carry on luggage only.

Two medium Katmandu jackets in a cold room really doesn't cut it.

In any case that's not the point IMHO :!:

Just got a note back from Trip Advisor today that they had rejected my report because I mentioned AFF in it and IHG don't seem to care.

We just got back from a week in Airlie Beach, talking to the girl who drove the van that picked us up she said they have had to close out the PARKING deal for a while because it has been too popular and they have had to overflow customers cars into the staff car parking. I would have thought it would be a nice problem to have. Obviously going from 7 days to 14 days has really packed in customers. It got us and hopefully still will. Not the best place in the world but it works for us, the food is good and the rooms are always clean
