Hilton 2 for 1 in Asiapac

Well, if it becomes a standard T&C and they enforce it then it will be sayonara HPC-san ...

I think it was more a clarity thing to make clear which onew were not eligible. Most of the promotions seem to state that they are eligible. Exceptions include this one, some of the cheap Sydney offers, and some Perth offers.

But certainly, if they start excluding too many discount rates, then it will be bye bye to HPC (joining my Accor membership!)

Note that this particular promotion is not a HPC one - it is APAC (I received an email from HHonors about a week ago) and HPC have simply latched onto it.

I think they now have a set of standard T&C they attach to all emails.

Can anyone tell me whether they got stay credits for this "2 for 1" offer? Need to know as am trying to calculate how many nights more I need to requalify for Gold.

On a separate note, are award stays counted towards the nights needed for Gold requalification?

thanks

Can anyone tell me whether they got stay credits for this "2 for 1" offer? Need to know as am trying to calculate how many nights more I need to requalify for Gold

For my 6 nights in Brisbane (2 for 1 with Premium Club discount also applied), I received the following credits:
Stays Completed: 1
Nights Completed: 6
Base Points: 6,964

I have a feeling that Hilton does use award nights towards stay credits... but can't be sure. I know one of the schemes does, and Hilton sounds right.

Thanks Mal. How did you apply the HPC discount to the prepaid stay?

I found this:
Your reward stays count toward VIP tier qualification.
Hilton HHonors - About HHonors - Membership Levels

Thanks Mal. How did you apply the HPC discount to the prepaid stay?

Added a comment to the booking "Hilton Premium Club Member #xx_xx_x", but they still pre-charged the full amount. When checking in at Brisbane, I showed my HPC card, and the guy said that HPC discount didn't apply to the rate as it's already heavily discounted  A quick look at the rate shown on the card showed that it had been discounted. So I ended up with a 20% credit, which after various hotel charges was refunded back to my Amex on departure.

Award stays do count as a stay, but do not credit toward nights.

The HPC 20% discount generally applies to all available rates, including Travellzoo types. (As many of those in CNS at the Ozfest found in May)

You lost me here:confused: They precharged your credit card the full rate, than refunded you 20% to your card on checkout?

That often happens with pre-paid rates and HPC.

About half the time time the hotel catches it and the actual discounted rate is pre-paid - when they don't catch before charging there is a credit/refund situation on check-out as described by Mal.

Yeah basically. I had stuff charged to my room while at the hotel, so that changed what was returned of course...

Guy at the front desk said no discount would apply, but it had already been applied by staff at the hotel somewhere and was correctly showing on the rate/night. It's just that they had pre-charged the full amount. Easily sorted out and the refund was given on departure.

I'm trying to requalify for Gold based on staying 36 nights...are you saying that if I stay 2 nights on an award stay, I won't be credited 2 nights?

According to this FT thread, you should get a stay credit for an award but not night credits:

There are reports of nights crediting in some instances - YMMV.

After further review, please see the following from the T&C's:
15. ...
For purposes of counting stays and nights for VIP tier qualification (as explained below), Reward Stays will count towards the number of overall stays and nights
.
So at some stage this has officially changed and you should be fine.

Thanks for that Ross....that leaves me with 31 nights:shock: So I need to book 5 cheap nites (that I don't really need!!) to reach Gold..is it worth it?? decisions, decisions....

Personally I wouldn't see the benefit. It really depends on how many future stays you are looking at doing, then working out whether the cost of the 'free' internet and/or breakfast would do better.

I could book 5 nites at the Hilton Adelaide for $97.50 / night with the Hilton 2 for 1 offer; that's $390 total with the HPC 20% discount for 5 nights including braekfast for 2, and likely executive floor upgrade as Gold. Would that change your mind? The alternative is to stay with my parents in Adelaide, save the $390 and forego Gold...:?::idea:

For $390, if you are going to have at least 10 stays in your new membership year then I would probably go for it.

When I lost Gold status in April I was given the chance of a fast track to Gold if completing 4 nights by the end of July. I was contemplating it for a little while but decided against a mattress run as I do not stay at Hiltons often enough to justify the cost involved.

If you stay that many nights at Hiltons through the year then it is probably worth it to get Gold status.

That's the key issue...how many nights I will be staying in a Hilton the following year. It certainly won't be as many as this year, but hard to actually know for sure now!

Good to know this, as I could quickly and easily regain Gold again if this was offered again...
