re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use

I have a three bedroom residence booked for Christmas with only 2A+2C listed. I might call them on Monday and ask what difference would an additional 2 adults be (I only booked a three bedroom to leave our options open). I'll report back what the response is.

I just rang about this and was told the apartment will accommodate up to eight, which they're happy to work bedding layouts to suit any requirement I may have. No additional charge over what's booked!

Winning!

And they'll all get breakfast/exec lounge access?

Not so confident about that part, BUT.......I do get supposedly 2 for HH daimond and the rate included full breakfast, so I'll check again about that component But rate booked was for 2A+2C plus hopefully the 2 diamond so breaky for 6 at least (hopefully). Lounge may be not so certain, but previously in HSP I have had lounge access for everyone. Time will tell I guess. That I rate most certainly as a "lucky if offered, but not expected" bonus.

New, but different info tonight.

I'm now informed additional adults will be charged at $60/person/night. Additional kids free. The tradeoff it seems is that they've confirmed in writing that $60 will include a full buffet breakfast and exec lounge access so still not too bad, but I've got a feeling if I added additional adults during the initial booking, they wouldn't have been charged at $60. From memory, about $9 - $10 is about the mark (but my memory does fail me at times).

I'm still to try getting an additional adult with the spouse stays free spiel as I didn't mention that when I booked.

Just used this for Hilton Sorrento Palace, as adding on my wife to the booking added a substantial amount. Looks to be a very nice hotel, so hopefully will get a decent upgrade here!

re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use

I tried this for a booking starting this week at Hilton Parmelia Perth. I made the booking for 1 person in a room at my corporate rate (for a Twin Guestroom) with the magic phrase "2 Guests - Hilton HHonors® SPOUSE STAYS FREE"
I just checked the booking, and can see it's been changed to a Queen room with 2 people (at the same price as the Twin Guestroom, which was about $50 cheaper than a Queen Guestroom)

Worked perfectly for me at Perth Hilton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday- used the same method as DeKa.

re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use

I've used this about 5 times now with success every time. I almost always end up with a King room even if I book a twin room (because it's cheaper).

Great thread!

I've used this for a recent family trip (2adukts+ 1child). Was upgraded. I was told kids stay free too but booked one adult and one child.

re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use

I did note when making a booking yesterday that there is now provision to add the name of a second guest staying in the room during the process.

When selecting 1 guest on the search? As that has always been there when you book for 2.

Eh, I've always used spouse stays free no matter who I'm with. I'd love to see the embarrassed faces if I had to kick up a fuss about my "40 years older male parter" when I stay with my dad :p

Wow. I'm surprised HHonors has made a change in the member's favour.

Excellent improvement.
As I'm Diamond and my +1 is Gold we often book a second room for friends to receive free breakfast etc and now I don't have to fib .

re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use

I have been reading through this whole thread as well as the one on flyertalk and still can't find a clear answer.

Looking at staying in the Hilton Tokyo in a couple of weeks with 3 adults in one room. Should I be booking 2 adults (eg. twin room) and add "spouse stays free" in the comments to cover the third person?

Any other country I wouldn't be so worried, but in Japan, I have heard that they are very strict. Also, it seems the hotel is getting very full and I don't want to be bumped at checkin.

Thanks heaps.

That's what I would do. But I would price up a 3 person room too, just to make sure the room type allows 3 adults.
Also note, it does not technically cover an extra bed. So you may need to pay extra for this.

Agree that is the best strategy but no guarantee.
