re: Hilton HHonors® "2nd GUEST [formerly SPOUSE] STAYS FREE" - How to use
As Cynicor says, it's best to do a dummy booking first and play with it a bit to understand what they can do on a fully paid rate. I've found in some Hiltons, 2 guests and a child is actually the same rate as one guest so in those cases I just book normally to remove any doubt. Mostly a child stays free, so I often book for 1A,1C and add the text "HH benefit, spouse stays free. Total occupancy 2A,1C". I find that method often results in no charge for a rollaway bed, but not always.
In your case of course, you need three adults rather than 2 adults, one child but provided the room type can accommodate 3 adults, you most likely will be charged the two per room rate plus perhaps a rollaway charge (if the room has a sofa bed, they often make that up at no charge rather than bringing up a rollaway).
I've not done it in Japan, but I do it often here in Oz.That's what I would do. But I would price up a 3 person room too, just to make sure the room type allows 3 adults.
Also note, it does not technically cover an extra bed. So you may need to pay extra for this.
