Is there a way to fast track status in the HH program? Tossing up whether I start using Hilton over IHG....

Currently Platinum with IHG and Accor but Hilton seem to offer some good deals on rates

Not exactly a fast track, but the US Aspire credit card provides Hilton Diamond status:

Personally I love Accor platinum and Hilton diamond.
IHG platinum.. Good but not as good as the 2 above IMO

I tried to get US Amex but failed, and then I was offered the Centurion here so took that which gave the status anyway

I used the GT method, based on my existing relationship with Amex Australia.

Alas sadly dropped from HH Platinum to Silver in the last few days - simply didn't do enough stays. Not a frequent enough hotel stayer and I happily accept that position. It was fun while it lasted.

You’re in prime position to take up a HH SM. There’s invariably one along about now but you can’t apply if Gold or higher.

Yes, often Fastrack but some promos come with instant status level and FT from there.

Yes, you need status elsewhere to SM but anyone readily get IHG Platinum for US$200 if they’re desperate. Accor Gold ought to work also (plenty of hacks around at the moment to get that).

But the main point was you usually can not apply for a HH FT / SM if you’re already HH Gold or higher.

Thanks, the honest truth is that I simply am not travelling/staying enough at Hilton Hotels to qualify. I don't have any status levels with any other hotel chains - well I have Accor Silver by virtue of the QF status, but thats all.

Like I said above it was fun while it lasted, but now back to reality

@SeatBackForward, I’m in the same position (dropped from Diamond to Silver). Not everywhere I travel has a Hilton branded hotel. But for those places that do, where it’s economical, I’ll stay. Happy to at least have some status (Silver) and I’m known to the staff of those I do frequent, so I’m looked after well.

Indeed, my experience is that with many things, the service from the staff you actually deal with is far more important than any of the status that is offered from the Head Office!

Actually, with HH Gold, you get free breakfast (or a voucher in the US). It’s arguably one of the better mid tier perks out ther.

But yep, there’s not a lot of Hilton properties in Oz and ditto, I’ve not been staying in many for a while either.

Agree re the breakfast perk outside of the US. In the US it's so pointless. It barely covers anything. Then add on the fact you're paying more because you're at a hotel plus a silly tip and you're usually still better off just going to a nearby cafe. It would be more useful of it was coughulative and could at least save up a few days for a breakfast, but sadly it's not.

As you would expect!

Gold possibly the same although technically it’s “Continental” breakfast outside the US of A. eg DT MEL gives full buffet breakfast to Diamonds but a Continental to Golds.

That will be me also after this year. It was fun whilst it lasted but getting so much harder in Oz with Brisbane and Adelaide losing their Hiltons.
