Hilton Honors discussion

@dairyfloss issue finally resolved.

Parna it seems did raise a genuine case file number which has finally been actioned by Debbie who I would guess from the email with proper grammar is in the USA and not an Indian/Philippines call centre.

Todays email

"Dear Lynda2475,

I do apologize that all of your miles did not post. If there is a problem such as incorrect posted, incorrect frequent flyer was used, etc. then you can contact us immediately to [email protected] and we can get that corrected for you. I have forwarded your information to Qantas to add the remaining miles. We will email you once we hear back from them.

Thank you for your loyalty. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day.

Best Regards,

Debbie W.

Hi all,

A few newbie questions regarding an upcoming stay since it’s my first time booking a fancier room. I’m looking at booking an executive room at the Conrad Shanghai.
  1. I note that the room includes access to the Executive Lounge which provides free breakfast. Is it necessary for me to book a rate that includes breakfast or is the included access to the Executive Lounge enough?
  2. Are the evening refreshments in the lounge complimentary? What other inclusions are there generally for executive level rooms?
Thanks

If you book an Executive room then that will give you access to the lounge for Breakfast. You don’t need to book a breakfast rate.
Generally most Exec lounges are open throughout the day with breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés and drinks.
Everything in the lounges is complimentary.

Perfect thanks so much for your help!

But some exec rates don’t allow breakfast in the main restaurant and some do. I much prefer main restaurant on holidays. Could be worth an email to check if this matters to you.

I wrote to HH and their priority e-mail address after your message upthread, @Lynda2475, and they eventually got back to me after 12 days to resolve this. Wasn't as swift as yours from the outset, but once they'd replied, the QFF points transfer was corrected within a day, so all's well that ends well... and will probably just keep the points in the HH account going forwards :D

Cheers,
Matt.

Glad it got sorted Matt.

I haven't been game to transfer anymore since, but given I have no Hilton stays planned at this stage will likely need to before expiry. Just need to remember to do so with enough notice to allow for follow-up.

Hi all,

When you purchase an “advance purchase” rate, does your card get charged immediately? Just wondering because I made a reservation this morning but haven’t been charged yet…

Some hotels do it the next day, maybe a few days after. Some do it on checkin based on my experience.

Good to know. Was a bit worried because the hotel is charging in CNY and I though there might’ve been an issue with my card

Hi all,

I made a booking a few weeks ago to stay at the Conrad in Shanghai next week (as I mentioned in the previous posts).

I purchased an Advance Purchase rate but have yet to be charged. Is this normal? I have received a booking confirmation email and all looks normal on the manage reservation page. I haven’t received any communications from the hotel asking me to pay. Does this mean I’ll be expected to pay upon check-in?

I have tried ringing the hotel and they didn’t seem to understand my query.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, pretty common for non-USA bookings.

I am not sure about China but other Asian properties usually process it 0-48 hours before check in. Nothing to worry about, they'll contact if they need you to pay.

Ah great that’s good to know. Thank you!

Don’t ever visit a US exec lounge then!

Actually have been to quite a few lounges in many continents that were just beer and wine. The spirits in Sydney (and I think most other Australian lounges) are at least the branded house spirits you’d find at most bars.

The fact you can get hot food and spirits I think puts the lounges in the top 25% at least.

Thankfully most of my trips are to Asia and Europe so I get to avoid US lounges for the most part.

Australian exec lounges are somewhere in between Asia, Europe and the US. Not bad but certainly not great.

I’ve been to plenty of terrible European lounges that are far worse than the Australian ones.

Munich for example.

Munich is a good example but depends which Hilton you’re referring to. Park is indeed pretty bad but City exec lounge is great. Can’t remember the airport one, it’s been a while. Will revisit in July.

I was at Hilton Munich City Sep 22 and it was coughhouse. No spirits, just cheap wine and a poor selection of food. Actually one of the worst lounges I’ve seen which is why it was so memorable.

There were definitely spirits when I was there and canapés were great. Maybe I got lucky 🍀
