Hilton Honors discussion

I stayed at a property in Dubai last week and they wouldn't allow me to room charge when I dined at the F&B outlets so I ended up paying directly. It occurred to me later how will I get the points for those charges. Do I just need to email the hotel directly or go through Hilton?

Which one?

I recall this happening to me (a DT near the airport) but was fixed after paying a deposit at the front desk.

I don’t think you can get points for transactions that didn’t go to your folio.

V Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton.

I was asked to pay the full accommodation at check in which I thought was strange as I'm used to pre-auths being taken and accounts being settled at check out.

I recently exchanged 40,000 Hilton Honors points for 6,000 Qantas points but was only 600 points credited.

Naturally I rushed to AFF and discovered the two posts upthread with the same issue. Hopefully contact at the e-mail address provided in this thread will get the remaining points credited.
Any resolution as yet?

Yeah it must be a local policy. The hotel I stayed in could do a pre-auth but it was opt in and if you didn’t proactively do this you couldn’t charge to the room. I only found this out at the pool bar so I had to leave to sort it out before I could order drinks.

Leave a few 1 star reviews around and they might deign to fix it. Seems typical of ME service levels. Sell luxury but offer nearly nothing because they pay their staff peanuts

I discussed it with a member of staff who mentioned that majority of their guests don't like pre-auths and would prefer to pay accommodation up front at check in. Though they didn't mention anything at check in about making an additional deposit for incidental spend.

Just checked in at Conrad Bali and similar, pay up front for accommodation and a preauth for extra spend

That’s normal, though? What’s not normal is making the pre-auth optional, but also not mentioning that you can’t charge until you do it…

I have never been asked to pay upfront at any Hilton-chain hotel, only pre-authorisation

Has anyone been able to work out why they block whole months of hotel rooms at a time? Looking for August next year and the hotel is not bookable beyond July. Same thing for another hotel a month ago when I was looking and then it all come back online a few weeks later. Reached out to chat who were useless.

It would vary from property to property; however, on occasions I have enquired with the property, it is usually around the refurbishment schedule.

I'm about 30k Base points away from retaining Diamond for the year, is there any hacks to achieve this?
