i could have saved $65 off BNE if I'd waited another 2 days!
I need some serious future telling skills:evil:
Might have to settle for the fortune cookie:(

These sales are great, yet frustrating.

A trick many of us use, is to book a flexible rate and keep an eye out on better deals as the time progresses. I can't remember the last time I booked a non-flexible rate.

I've saved a large amount of money using this method. That said, I've also jumped a bit early to book a lower rate, only to see an even lower rate emerge at the last minute. If only there was a tool that told you hotel occupancy rates (like expert flyer I guess). Might help with the guesswork!

I did read that. It would be interesting to I guess keep a track of what I do spend on adv purchase rates vs a Flexi and then switch if sale available. Might look at a spreadsheet next yr.

StayAngel tried, but found too many obstacles.

Most use AAA or Gov't (if entitled) or some other code to achieve flexible rates which are comparable (even cheaper sometimes) to advance purchase rates.

Re: Hilton "Big World Sale"

I was part of the StayAngel trial and used it for a few months. But, to the best of my knowledge, it couldn't predict future rate drops or give any sense of how current occupancy rates. Not surprising though that hotels wouldn't offer up that info.

Re: Hilton "Big World Sale"

Using the HHonours Sale promotion, I have just booked 10 nights in a London Hilton in October for under £1100 or around A$200 per night, including breakfast for 2. It is a non-refundable price with immediate payment. The hotel is 5 minutes’ walk from a train station and has 8 bus routes which stop almost at the door. I am really pleased. I am also going to try to get a fast track to HHonours Gold going.

I may have booked a little early, but my flights are all booked and I can't see that these prices could go down any lower.

Re: Hilton "Big World Sale"

I booked and prepaid a few Hilton nights for stays at the end of the year based on an AUD:USD rate of $0.78. While I could have had a better rate by waiting there is also a currency risk to waiting.

I had budget at a rate of $0.70 so was happy to lock it in when I did.

For AUD reservations I usually go the flexible rate and wait for a price I am happy to pay.

Re: HHonors Promotions

Can anyone confirm that this still works? The website is dated 2015 and I can't find the reference to it from elsewhere.

Did my two stays in early June and I can confirm that the offer works as the confirmation of my upgrade to HH Gold came through within a couple of days (valid to end-March 2018!)

EDIT: for clarity, this was the Visa Infinite offer - 2 stays or 4 nights and fast-track to HH Gold

Ohh now that makes sense! I don't think I'm entitled living in NZ and all.
But I've managed to book a few nights that coincide with the current sale so that feels good :)
