Hilton Macquarie card is enhanced into Hilton HHonors Macquarie card

Does anyone have the original letter that came with the new HHonors Visa Card? I vaguely remember there being something about a free weekend night if you spend $2000 on the card in a short period of time. Or am I confusing it with the free weekend night if you spend $12000 on the card? I'm still trying to locate my original paperwork.

Oh, and I got a "20000 HHonors points if you activate before November 1" offer in email yesterday, too.

So did I, but I am not going to give them the satisfaction [for maybe $100 worth of points (on a good redemption day)].

All things considered, soon enough I should have Diamond locked up until March 2016 so have little interest. I might revisit in a couple of years.

I phoned to cancel this card today.
Then decided to keep it after being told I would receive 20,000 HHonors points if I renewed and also a free weekend night after spending $2,000 in the next 3 months.
I decided the renewal fee would more than cover a free night at the Conrad Singapore .

Call that number on the screen there (1300 150 300) - it's just the generic Macquarie cards line. They should be able to help out.

My renewal is up in January, so I'm going to spend the $2000, get the free weekend certificate and then cancel the card.

I'm good for Diamond next year, so I'm going to reapply for the card to hopefully be approved in the first few days of April - hopefully that will put me in good stead for Diamond until March 2016.

I'm debating the benefit of a $12000 spend for a free night - it would depend very much on what sort of value you can extract out of that free night, and what availability, I guess.

I haven't seen any - it's all be focussed on getting the previous cardholders to sign on again.

See if you can get the 20000 HHonors points bonus.

I have been reviewing this card's supposed features. I think nearly all people have missed the deceptive built in "premium" of this card and awarding of a "free" weekend certificate. For joe public (excluding the sign-up bonus certificate at 2k$ spend before Jan), those Mac boys got very smart and loaded the dice by stating "On each ANNIVERSARY of you card being OPENED" you get a certificate i.e on a cash flow basis it means you have to outlay 2x $295 in card fees = $590 for a single lousy weekend certificate. They force you to always renew before giving you the reward. So if you think the card has lost its value during the year and cancel despite spending the necessary 12k$, bye bye reward. For those of us that have been offered this bonus, it does make this first time mildly more positive but there is a long wait between drinks of getting a second certificate for use. Luckily they will just overlap given 1 year expiry date to be able to use somewhere expensive together, but still not great value. Gives a whole new meaning to this discussion board - Hilton HHonors and Premium Club. Sure is a premium club for Mac Bank.
