Hilton Status Match

The app (unusually) provides better information than the website. For example, accumulated and required "Stays" are not shown on the desktop portal.

How many stays are showing as required for Diamond?
Showing as 40 nights, 26 stays, or 90k points to retain in the app. (all in addition to those I've had so far this year).

That would indicate you have had 4 separate stays totalling 20 nights so far this year.
Sounds right - I ended up (somehow) on a status challenge that needed 18 stays for diamond, but it wasn't the same as what was published online. Will assume that I do indeed need to re-qualify to retain.

Given your post upthread, your status has just recently been upped to Diamond.

Going by many anecdotal experiences, including my own, you should have Diamond status until end of March 2025.
Interestingly I dropped to member today, so looks like the fast track hasn't applied correctly - emailed again, else will apply again for the status match...

This would be very welcome if it does indeed occur.

I've just started a Status Match to move from IHG Diamond Elite to HH. I can make Gold in the 8 nights (I have a booking in Hilton Double tree Perth after Christmas for 8 nights), but I will struggle to get another 6 nights to make 14 within the 90 days to reach Diamond.

Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can make up a few more nights without actually staying somewhere? For e.g. is it possible to book a non-refundable property but not check-in and still get the nights? I'm guessing probably not, but I'm open to any ideas.

Also, is it possible to make a booking, check-in and then leave the property and not return? I'm wondering if the nights still get counted if you don't stay for the whole booking (I recently left an Accor booking 2 nights early and still got the nights counted, and it tipped me to Gold)

Your second suggestion should work... the hotel doesn't generally need to know whether you have remained 'in house' or not after checking in. You could be holding a room for any number of reasons. I've done this before in Australia and abroad, and with no issues. Just note you can't overlap Hilton stays if you want them credited.

I wouldn't recommend trying your first idea. Even if you can check in online successfully, there is a very high likelihood of the property not crediting the stay/nights for you, but they will absolutely keep the funds.

Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks. Yeah I think the first option is too risky.

I might be able to tie a status run with a hotel booking - check in person - then leave and return home. That should work. Hilton Darwin has good prices too.

This does not work. Even if you check in digitally, if you fail to access the room you are counted as a no show. Allegedly the night manager does this audit to verify digital check ins have arrived.

Check in, go to your room, put the do not disturb sign on.

When day of check out arrives, housekeeping will knock, enter and see you have vacated. People to fail to check out all the time.

If you don't leave DND on, you risk housekeeping entering on day 2, seeing the room is completely empty, and the hotel marking you as checked out.

Basically at the minimum, go into the room during a mattress run every now and then and use the hotel's facilities and restaurants. Didn't need to sleep there. Has worked for me.

Not many midscale options here (lowest I have seen is around $250 per night for the West Hotel in Sydney or $169 for the DT Melbourne just before Christmas).

I have a feeling Hilton may have changed its policy about respecting DND after the massacre in Las Vegas. You might be able to get away with it for one, perhaps two days tops, but I wouldn't count on it.

Nah, covid reverted all that. If anything its more common to see opt in housekeeping. I usually put the DND sign on when I’m in the US, I’ve never had an issue. 3 nights would go without question, likely 7 nights would to. Even then if it’s just a check they’ll walk in see a made up room and walk out. For all they know you put your things in the closet. It would only be if a maid did a full service they would notice no signs of life.

Of course this is ignoring the fact that this can’t possibly be worth it just to get HH Gold or Diamond.

Has anyone tried more than once to do this challenge??
I ended up failing last year's attempt due to a mistimed first stay, wondering if i can try again?

Matt's article started "Only Hilton Honors members who have not previously completed a status match challenge are eligible for this offer..."

Yeah, I read that and ponder it. I’ve successively done a few SMs on the same account (as well as two VA SMs).

If rejected, you could apply with a new account (unless you’re sitting on a shedload of points that you want to use).

Is Hilton ever going to sunset a previous status match, or is it a one status match for life deal?
