P.S. For those doing the ferry on Sunday don't forget to get a refund of the departure tax (~HKG120) as you are now transitting HKG.

Is there a refund if you're taking flights in and out of HKG in less than 24 hours?

You need to check the taxes that have been paid on your flight booking but aren't you there longer than 24 hours? You arrive late afternoon Saturday and depart early evening Sunday?

I have 2 one-way bookings.

I'm arriving about 2330 Sat night and departing about 2000 Sun night on seperate tickets.
Arriving on a flight at 23:30 and departing next day at 20:00 should entitle you to refund of departure tax but I'm not 100% certain on overnight transits.

@MEL_Traveller would know for certain.

I'm pretty sure you have to be transiting on the same day (ie. same calendar day) to receive a refund.

Colour me Penegal Copper as I will have just returned from JMK & TLV pride, then have to take plus one for a nice Birthday at the end of June and USA end of July early AUG. But hope you all have a blast.

Due to my current SG purgatory, I suffered in the Pier Business lounge the other night.

Suffer my ****! It would be a First Class lounge anywhere but HKG. Put it on the crawl map.

The Wing biz lounge, on the other hand, was very ordinary.

Apologies for silly question but if I stay in Tsing Yi and do not use in town checkin can I enter departures with either a mobile boarding pass or self printed boarding pass?

I did it with a Qantas OLCI BP printout last month. The person doing the document checks before security did confer with another before accepting mine. (South/CX side - I was Wing Bound)

Thanks! You just reminded me that QF counters at the airport don’t open early enough for the lounge run. Last lounge run, I had to make my way back to Kowloon to check in which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I ended up in F. :D
Nevertheless, it’s important info for those flying QF and joining the lounge run, if you have check in luggage, make sure you check in at the Hong Kong or Kowloon airport Express counters before making your way to the airport.

Ah yes I remember now.

I won't have checked luggage so hoping the experience of @serfty last month will be the same for me. Planning on getting there early anyway for breakfast/lunch in the Wing F lounge buffet.

Don't worry, I will be getting to all the lounges. From the CX F lounges to, well, the QF lounge. ;)

I’ve been thinking about the NZ/CX Strategic Alliance Agreement on the AKL-HKG route and it’s doing my head in.

CX website says the CX business lounge is the Air New Zealand Lounge. However, New Zealand website says J passengers departing on NZ flight #’s only, amongst other things.

Travelling CX198 AKL-HKG in J (CX metal & flight #, WP). Oneworld access rules apply also. But, I would rather visit a flagship lounge. Anyone come across this before?

Flying CX in J on AKL-HKG gets access to NZ lounge (in addition to the QF lounge).

Hello team,

By chance I stumbled across this event whilst I was posting for an upcoming Canberra catch up. As luck would have it I'll be flying QF30 on the 10th and am keen to join in the festivities if possible. Bronze member flying economy.

Regards,

eJamie
