HKG lounge crawl 9 June 2024 (the annual Asian lounge crawl)

Qantas gave me a nice birthday present yesterday when they confirmed my upgrade for QF30. I’ll be in 6K.

In the MEL FLounge now for brekkie before jumping on QF29. Didn’t bother requesting the upgrade so will be “slumming it” in Y and Qantas haven’t been generous enough to offer me an op up.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in HKG! Is there a Saturday night drinks/meal thing happening? I’ll be at the Novotel CityGate.

QF29 delayed :(

Was supposed to be 10:20 departure, board now shows 10:30 and “on time” (rather ironically), but boarding announcement in the lounge or the the Qantas app is this far non-existent. Somehow I doubt they’ll be getting everyone aboard the flight within the next 5 mins and departing “on time”.

Update: As suspected… 🫤

And just like that, it’s now a 13:00 departure with a scheduled 20:40 arrival :(

Apparently they’re trying to fix toilet issues on the aircraft, so… probably a good thing to sort that out before departure, but potentially a sign of fun to come mid-flight? Coincidentally, the last QF flight I took from Australia (SYD) to HKG was plagued with bathroom issues.

On the plus side, the lovely lounge angel here has slotted me in for a massage so it’s not all bad news 💆‍♂️

Would anyone like to join me and @WilsonM at Sunset Grill at Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel around 7.30pm? It's not too far from the Novotel where most people seem to be staying, and seems like a nice spot with an airport view.

I'll come along ... we can strategise for tomorrow ...

In the Royal Lounge (SkyTeam) at New Chitose, Hokkaido. Going to to board China Airlines to TPE and onward to HKG in 90 mins.

I don't arrive at HKG until midnight, and then walking across to the Regal. Any activities on Sunday, I'd appreciate knowing.

The lounge is large and rather plush. Pic below is about 1/3 of it.
