Hobart accommodation

Its been a long time since I stayed at Lenna. I didn't like the access-from-outside setup and I recall some ordinary dining. Do they still access the 'new' wing rooms from that windy gallery? A friend stayed at the very new 'penthouse' room and was VERY impressed. :)

Looking for accommodation recommendations in Hobart for a few nights at the end of April

I'll be with some friends for 3 nights so may go AirBnB but then I'll need a hotel room for 2 or 3 nights
I recently stayed at the new Crowne Plaza in Liverpool St. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a superior King with mountain view. It was quite spacious with a full chaise lounge to sprawl on by the window to watch the passing parade below. The restaurant was a bit noisy though, resembles a bit like a Westfield food court in some respects. Maybe that was more because there was a hens' party in attendance and quite loud and boisterous. It is central and worth considering if you get a good deal.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far - having fun doing all the research and I've booked at the Crowne Plaza because I'm a Platinum Ambassador

We'd like to go out to Frogmore Creek for lunch on the Sunday and maybe visit a couple of other wineries. Does anyone know a driver that might be interested in a few hours work

TIa

I'll be visiting Hobart over Easter and am booked into the Old Woolstore, but good to know of the food options, yum yum!

Another place some wine people recommended was Amici in North Hobart Amici Italian Restaurant North Hobart We paid it a visit and were not disappointed. This was about 3.5 years ago. Perhaps the locals can comment as to whether it's still worth a visit?

The newly opened Crown next to Myers on Liverpool street would be nice. Walking distance to great foodie outlets as well as the Hanging Garden.

We are there at Easter also.
Giving the Movenpick a go.
We don’t get down to Hobart as much as we should. Just hoping that the place doesn’t shut down on the PH’s especially Good Friday

We were in Hobart over the recent long weekend and stayed at the Movenpick. It is a fantastic property in a pretty central location.
Some of the rooms are on the smaller side at 24sqm but you shouldn't be spending too much time in them anyway - there's so much to see, eat and do! If rates allow, try look for packages with breakfast included - their all day breakfast is until 4pm, a la carte and very good...
The bartenders there are also excellent - look out for Louis.

Also spending time in Hobart over Easter, so very pleased to find this thread. Our last proper visit was after the 2005 Sydney Hobart race. Planning to revisit the Drunken Admiral for sure plus work our way through other restaurant suggestions 😊

It does a bit, although in recent years the tourism momentum meant that the impact was much smaller. Coming out of covid, not sure how it will play out. Life is pretty normal down here, and the economy is doing well, so you'd hope tourism businesses take every opportunity to get sales/exposure.

This might be a good time to post about the Tasmanian wine trails, so people can check out Easter opening times.

This is sensational, book if you can!

Paging @Tassieoptom - do you happen to have details of a driver I could use for a day out at the wineries from Hobart please? TIA - I tried searching through the old gin tasting threads without any luck

I've posted some recent (January) experiences at a few places in Hobart:

Didn't eat there this visit but also a big fan of Drunken Admiral, and of Pancho Villa Mexican in North Hobart.

They all look delicious - sadly I can no longer eat fish which is really frustrating

Lots of great restaurant recommendations. I've made reservations for Drunken Admiral and Rockwall and planning coughtails for Glass House.

Sorry for the late reply, was off work so doing limited email reviewing, ( small luxury recovering from surgery).

David Jones, Boutique Wine Tours, mobile is 0415 387 887. He was lovely, but expect to pay a bit of a price

If no luck with David, I would consider being a driver to help out.

Yes the information I have had coming in via my patients over the last couple of weeks is that hotels are full, restaurants are to capacity most nights. Just crazy, and don’t get me started on the crazy hire car prices.
