Holidays and Airport 'Chaos' since COVID

Query was about a Good Friday flight, ex SYD. Crystal ball? :)
Pre-Covid SYD could be a bit of a zoo.

Even lines for tables at QF F etc Lots of families/kids. I swore *never* to fly on GF again.

But they’re otherwise back to normal except no proper “Express Path” still.

Is a few delays scattered but they all seem to be about 1 hour. The only cancellations seem to be on Jetstar (no surprises there).

QF51 out of BNE severely delayed (potentially over 12hrs) but so far not cancelled

By the way remember the "pop up QF policy" around Dec when the airline said it would keep aircraft in reserve for holiday and peak periods?. So far it has not popped up again

I wonder if the interest rates will put a dampener on Easter travel.

RBA should use tomorrow as an indicator re next interest rate rise
Domestic Capacity still down. Debatable if the airlines can even run 100% schedule consistently, Jetstar has been running at 85% due crewing issues.

International is crazy busy however. I know many people going overseas this month, more vs I’ve ever known about before. I asked many of them how they went with airfares, most paid $3k return to Hawaii, USA, London.

I think holiday periods will still be busy, those periods in between like May, August, October/November will be the periods to watch.

BCN was busy the other day but nothing compared to LHR both with Easter holiday traffic and the strike.

T3 was absolutely packed - thank goodness for the QF Lounge!

Remote stand boarding was also frustrating - not especially well organised (poor bus coordination) - would have been easier to walk but of course not allowed across tarmac.

Got nice up close and personal with the engine intake boarding from the stairs.

weather looks pretty terrible across the east coast tomorrow, expecting lots of delays

Why is this thread still open 4 months into 2023?

At very least it should be renamed - but from the looks of things we’re back to standard ops so it should probably be retired as a dedicated thread.

April 14th they are expecting ADL to have its busiest day ever with the whole AFL round played here and the LIV golf tournament.
I believe at the moment we are sitting on about 115% of flights domestically compared to pre Covid.

No chaos observed either at Brisbane International or Brisbane Domestic (Qantas end).
