Love this review - especially the food! Do you have an Instagram account or some form of social media to follow?

Thanks for that. I'm only active on AFF.

I've learnt so much from this site I feel trip reports is the only meaningful way I can give back to the community. Prior to this I would never ever take photos of food.

Trip reports is also a good way to trim the fat (photos) and condense it all down for a run through memory lane months, years down the track.

This is the kind of travelling I aspire to - top notch restaurants and hotels. Good writeups littered with a few photos as opposed to the wanky 'influencers' on Instagram!

We saved the best for last!

We may have left the FS behind as a hotel, but not its star attraction in the kitchen - Lung King Heen. We've been coming here for > 12 years, and have been known to arrange many a HKG transit just to eat here.

2009 Lung King Heen was the first Chinese restaurant in the World to be awarded 3 Michelin stars .... it still has all three. It's currently #24 on the World's best list.

IMO - this is a must visit when visiting Hong Kong.

The ingredients and work that goes into these is just awesome - so much flavour

Beautiful BBQ pork buns. This is where Tim Ho Wan learnt how to cook his buns .... he worked at Lung King Heen

Back at the hotel getting ready to head to the airport we noticed this heli land on the Peninsula hotel roof. Now that's the way to do a transfer..... it was the hotel car for us.

The Pier, CX first class lounge. It was quite busy for our 8pm departure, didn't bother with a meal. Happy enough with a glass or three Perrier Jouet

I had the beef ragu, but forgot to take a photo, it was very nice .... one of the kids took a photo of theirs - salad of duck with vermicelli

That's it for this trip. Hopefully it's been helpful to some AFF members planning a trip to Hong Kong.

The next report will be a September/Oct trip to the USA. Highlights will be driving through New Hampshire, Vermont, Up State NY, and the Adirondack Mountains during "the colours of New England" or fall.

This trip is also being flown on QFF points via a late request to release first and business class seats - thanks P1;)

I like Lung King Heen too but recently tried Man Wah over in MO and found the food to be better...

Great TR @amaroo!

Any other duck recommendations? I plan to have it twice. Also, the Crystal Jade places seem ubiquitous. Are they all as good as that looks?

Mmm - I think I put my appreciation in the wrong thread

Anyway

yet another interesting TR and completely different side of HK - thanks for the effort

Love Love LOVE it!

Having been to HK for the very first time early last year, I know exactly where you described many of those highlights. Thanks for bringing a more sophisticated perspective - ours was way more humble, but equally intoxicating and immersive.

I'm very interested in the USA trip - my favourite place on the planet. And Vermont in Fall is another example of our forward planner - so I will devour your trip report with gusto.

Fabulous report! I love Hong Kong, and so have scribbled down some ideas for next time.
Itinerary: Food - well that’s my kind of holiday!

Great pics as always, looking forward to the next one! Thank you!!

Thanks.

The recommendations really favoured Mott 32 for Peking Duck.

Why not try Roast Goose ... Ho Lee cough and Yung Kee

Crystal Jade operate just about everywhere in Hong Hong. Great for a no fuss quick bite... we always seem to find time to visit one.

Crystal Jade

Was just googling reviews etc on upmarket hotels in HK and your report provided more info than anything on the web. Much appreciated. I'd better start saving. ;)
